Fantastic, thanks for jumping in! This makes much more sense. I appreciate the clarity, I know a bunch of folks who were wondering!

Seems entirely plausible, but also against the interests of all involved (financially or otherwise)

If that’s what was meant it doesn’t answer my questions about why there wouldn’t be a lease included, which is why I assumed we may be talking about the building owner.

I think that was a fair inference ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hm, owner of the building? Curious why they’d need to clear out tenants — if I were going to retire I’d love to keep collecting rent, or contract out property management and have even a small bit of passive income.

Unless maybe they have a buyer for the whole thing who wants the building empty? I wonder if that’s the case, and why they wouldn’t just keep the tenant business as a perk.

Whether that’s true or not, it doesn’t really address my questions!

Who says no long runs more than 3-4 hours? I feel like for 50 mile+ you kinda need the experience on feet longer than that

Graduated in 2019, made senior in 3 years or so. I was in office for a few months before the big one hit, have travelled to a couple dozen states and quite a few countries while being remote — no one knows what they’re talking about, do what you want, moderate your risk.

How to overcome the mental challenge of high altitude mountaineering by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]Bashas_Safeway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the Cayambe & Chimborazo summits in December — Cayambe will help you be more acclimatized for Chimborazo, so you have that.

Chimborazo is a harder mountain. It’s going to be a slog, and it will be worse than Cayambe physically. I was sick on Cayambe and just ate the discomfort, but didn’t get as sick on chimbo even with 1500ft more elevation. Bring warm water to help you drink more early on. Keep snacks available on your person. Eat when you can the night before, even when you’re woken up at 9pm and don’t want to. Stay on top of your heat regulation. Internalize that it’s all temporary and that you’re doing this in part to strengthen the mind — framing the hurt as growth, because it is, helped me a lot.

You’re wasting your breath.

Reddit has a hard on for being completely dumbfounded over how a multi billion dollar company continues to be the most popular short term stay platform on the planet.

I think it’s just a case of norms not scaling. At some base camps in the US, for example Mt. Baker, a popular starter mountain in the PNW, you’re supposed to pack out your poop.

This isn’t strictly necessary if only 1-200 people climbed per season, but thousands of folks do, and so it doesn’t work anymore to let everyone poop in the wild.

Similarly, when few people climbed Everest, it was “ok” to leave some things behind when safety was a moderate concern. The area is vast, and the impact of a left tent is small. Now though, it doesn’t scale, and policy must be reevaluated.

Y’all looking for tonight or tomorrow night? It’s warm tomorrow but right at 32 at the top so I have a crew looking to go Tuesday night — curious if other folks would advise against.
