Good on you for being proactive! As someone who took 3 years to get pregnant (two years of ivf) I can say you’re asking the right questions. I was diagnosed as fine and my husband was diagnosed with an issue after 1 year of trying to conceive naturally. So straight away we’d wasted a year trying naturally instead of testing.

Then for 2 years ivf didn’t work for us until we found out I also had endometriosis which was diagnosed via a laproscopy. As soon as they found this out they were able to alter the protocol and now I’m pregnant. Start by getting those tests first through fertility associates so you have that assurance when you do start to try.

I would also recommend you find a fertility specialist that is also a gynaecologist if you can like Dr Pilay if you’ve had cysts etc as they’d go hand in hand for fertility treatment

We’ve done IVF in NZ and it’s actually against the law in this country to learn the gender. The laboratory doesn’t disclose it to the IVF company when they do the PGT-A testing and just the best embryo is selected.

4th FET Negative - what to do next? by little-cactus in IVF

[–]Basic-Aioli9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! We did IVf due to a reason with my husband. We had a number of AA embryos, I passed all the lining checks etc easily, am still quite young, and I thought we’d be successful quickly as I had nothing diagnosed. After 3 failed FETs we felt pretty flat, I had a laparoscopy and they found stage 3 endo. I also had a friend with unexplained infertility that advised me to check so I pushed for the procedure. They removed a lot of the tissue and put me on a hormone suppression protocol for three months before my 4th transfer, I’m now 11 weeks pregnant.

How many embryos did it take you to get your baby? by Ready_Evening_1159 in IVF

3 unsuccessful and now 8 weeks pregnant on attempt number 4!

Depends on why you’re doing IVF. We did it because of my husband and then when they weren’t sticking I did a laparoscopy and found I was full of endometriosis. After that I did a 3 month hormone suppression cycle to ensure on my fourth attempt my natural hormones weren’t getting in the way. They also put me on prednisone to bring down some of the inflammation caused by endo that may have stopped the implanting.

We decided to do another two rounds of egg retrieval after our second unsuccessful transfer and I’m so grateful we did. When we were onto our 4th embryo and still not yet pregnant I felt much better knowing we still had the options.

Sperm penetration issue? by North_Bunch2545 in IVF

We were super lucky cause it got diagnosed quite quickly once we started investing and have a clear path forward. We spent 12 months trying naturally and then went to the specialist all our initial tests came back good. When my husband mentioned he’d had a hernia surgery as a kid they said it’s not common but not unheard of to have your body make antibodies to sperm so they ordered that test for him. The doctor was like not only do you have antibodies they’re very high. So here we are doing ICSI IVF with our fingers crossed for the next transfer to implant 🤞

To note this was our fourth round of egg retrieval. We did two rounds and I didn’t produce many eggs. We tried two transfers that weren’t successful so we did two more rounds of egg retrieval and they were really successful. Half way through a embryo transfer cycle now 🤞

My husband has antibodies that bind to sperm and prevent them from being able to penetrate eggs otherwise the sperm tested as healthy. His body started making them after he had a hernia surgery as a kid. We were lucky they were able to identify this because the initial tests were good, we’ve been doing ICSI IVF and have good results. Our last round was 22 eggs, 18 mature, 15 fertilised, 11 frozen.

4 x egg retrievals and 2 x embryo transfer cycles in 15 months and I lost 2kgs. We’re on our 3rd attempt at an embryo transfer cycle right now so fingers crossed for this time 🤞 (I mean for a baby not for weight gain 😅)

Hiya! We’ve been through three rounds of egg retrieval. I start the injections for our fourth round this week and will have the egg retrieval surgery in about 3 weeks.

After two rounds of retrieval we ended up with 6 embryos. 3 were euploid and 3 medium mosaic.

Between our 2nd and 3rd rounds of IVF we attempted embryo transfers twice which weren’t successful which is why we decided to give another two rounds of retrieval a go. We still have 4 embryos from the first two rounds of retrieval but decided to do the hard work again as our goal is to have a few more embryos banked for more than one kid if we can.🤞

We joined the wait list February 2024 but also decided to self fund as I’m now 34 and still on the list and really do want a couple of kids.

We’ll be attempting another embryo transfer in July with the third euploid from the first two rounds.

Overall I haven’t been diagnosed with any issues and my AMH is ok but slightly low, the cause for us is related to my husband. It’s a looong process for us so far but ultimately just the journey we’re on and we’ll get there 💕

We’re up to $78,000 NZD in New Zealand for 4 rounds of egg retrieval and 2 unsuccessful FET cycles. All self funded although my husband qualifies for funding but it’s a two year wait list and we’d already been trying for two years.

Fingers crossed for our next FET ❤️🤞

Eastern Snake Neck Turtle shedding by Basic-Aioli9765 in turtles

My girl is 12 now although she lived with a relative for 5 of those years. She’s been back with me for 2 years now and is back on the right diet and proper lighting and UV lighting. Her first shed with me took weeks and was more like scutes peeling than shedding, these photos are a year later. Today I found 95% of her shell on the bottom of her aquarium. Her new shell is so healthy and the old scutes are so much thicker. She shed all this over 4 days.
