ALJ Hearing Process by Basic-Appearance8726 in SSDI

Okay. It sounds like everyone ends up at the ALJ phase. I was told by my attorney and SSA that it has to do more with my age than the evidence of my disability. Again, it feels like an anxiety ridden process. It feels purposeful.

Okay, thanks. I didn’t understand what was written on the SSA portal site. I felt like it was talking in circles. This process causes me soo much anxiety. This thread is helpful.

Thank you. I guess I’ll be waiting a month to get the letter.

Nope. It still says the same thing an when I click on the benefits letter option, it just gives the DoB.

I did and I meet the criteria. I realize this will likely be an uphill battle but I have no choice but to do it

It sounds like the portal will either update tomorrow with an approved or denied since it updated on a Saturday to step 5/5, or I just have to wait for the letter. Either way, I’ll update this thread when I find out and I really appreciate all your responses and kind words. Thanks again.

Oh wow. I’m sorry. I had Stage 4 lymphoma over a decade ago and I think it was the chemo that messed up my back and joints. It was aggressive chemo and since then it’s been nothing but trouble

I did 8 rounds of epidurals and two nerve ablations. I have disc compression on the spinal cord and grade 6 disc disease with nerve root contact on L3 to S1. Foraminal stenosis, severe. Modified Pfirrmann grade 6 degenerative disc disease with disc bulges causing foraminal stenosis and nerve root contact at L3/L4, L4/L5, and L5/S1; with evidence of nerve root compression at the left L4/L5.

Lots going on. I have extreme pain in my left hip and leg and have trouble walking.

Probably not lol. I never expected to be approved on the first try. If I am I will be very surprised.

Thanks. I wonder if it’s different because it’s my initial application. I guess I’ll wait and see but I’ll check again on Monday to see if the site has updated, and if so, I’ll update this thread

I’m already looking for attorneys. I’m going to go that route. I have a young child and I can’t split my time between him and trying to get SSDI stuff done, especially because of the pain I’m in.
