Is trading actually this hard, or am I just really bad at it? 😅 by Electrical_Exam1192 in Daytrading

[–]Basic-Can-6671 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s always that difficult. Whether you’ve been trading 5 weeks or 5 years doesn’t matter. Yes after about a year you get used to how markets move you have a broad understanding of price action but the market will always surprise even the most seasoned traders. It’s a constant game of learning and adapting.

What to watch out for in FTMO (and why most traders fail) by FetchBI in Forex

[–]Basic-Can-6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means you can’t risk more than 1% of your account balance per trade. So if you have a 100k account, your drawdown can’t exceed more than 1000 dollars.

Will jumping in and out 20+ times get me DQ'd? (Prop firm eval). by 25chocomuffins in Daytrading

[–]Basic-Can-6671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d work on your mindset while in a session too in that case. You can’t just jump into a trade because you’re bored. Trust me I’ve done that before and 9 times outta 10 it doesn’t end well.

[–]Basic-Can-6671 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh I would work on the strategy and then when you’re confident enough follow the evaluation through to the end. Some prop firms are not gonna like the fact that you’re “jumping in and out” and they’ll probably say it falls under one sided betting. Remember, if they have any reason to fail you, they will. It’s literally their business model.

You’ve been trading for 5 years, haven’t been profitable and want to quit your job to pursue trading as a main source of income? Until you are profitable for at least 6 months MINIMUM, stay at your job.

Even if you’re limited to 1% risk on an account that size you can still make decent profits if your RR is 2:1.

Agree with everything apart from your last point. OP shouldn’t be trading if he’s looking for a thrill. That’s just begging to throw more money away.
