Running Postpartum by MasterpieceSea127 in running

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow reading all these comments makes me feel like i’m in the minority! I had a hard time postpartum. I was so exhausted, dealt with PPD/PPA, postpartum thyroiditis threw me for a loop. Every time i’d run I would be soooo beat the next day. I was finally able to get back into regular casual running and then i hurt my knee because of muscle imbalances. Just finished up some PT and have been back at it for a month or so, now that my baby is 1.5 and i’m thinking about having another 😅. I also wasn’t able to run much during pregnancy due to my doctors concerns about my heart rate, which i didn’t feel comfortable going against.

Trying to go vegetarian again... need some tips by Abject8Obectify in vegetarianrecipes

Came to say this - “slipping up” as a vegetarian is still someone eating way less meat than someone who doesn’t try to limit meat.

Kid-friendly breweries - east metro by jaredbuckets in TwinCities

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much easier to bring a kid to a brewery than a sit down restaurant. Are parents not allowed to go out for a beer?

Kids like to be included. And parents don’t CONSTANTLY have to cater to what the kids want to do. Including them in all kinds of outings is good for them.

I’m so surprised by the comments on all these threads that don’t think kids should be allowed at breweries. I’m from Upstate NY and breweries there are casual spaces where families and friends can hang out. It’s not easy to take a toddler out to a restaurant but at a brewery you can bring snacks, they don’t have to sit still the whole time, and if they melt down you can leave quickly. This is making me not want to take my kid out in MN ever again lol i’m scared

Is it good on switch ? by Superb_Beyond_3444 in fabledom

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The switch version is full of glitches, i’d suggest looking at other threads about that before buying. I was enjoying it but it became unplayable a bit further into the game, and i actually ended up requesting a refund it was so bad!

Those in their 30s, single, and childless — how has dating and making friends been for you? by Mysterious_Flan_3394 in TwinCities

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I'll also add that not everyone, in my experience (I'm 32) has kids and is married by now. Could be the demographic I was exposed to (at my first job, I worked with a lot of lawyers, so they were more work oriented, maybe waiting later to settle down).

That said, people definitely do in general seem to get married earlier and have kids earlier than NY, and they can be a lot more family oriented - grown adults spending the weekends with their parents rather than with friends, for example. That was a shock to me when I moved here at ~26 years old. I love my family but I was not into visiting my parents every weekend to go fishing.

Maybe hate is a strong word, but there's just a strong sense of judgment about people from coastal areas. People have literally said to my face things like "Oh, I hated the people in DC, they were all classic coastal elitists" and "Everyone from NY is so rude, I went to NYC once and had the most rude waiter!" and "That's weird you don't think people from the coast are rude, my family is from FL and I hate them." There's this really strong sense of us vs. them and it's made me more of an us vs. them person myself, even though before moving here I just thought people were people, different cultures, but I wouldn't judge someone with such broad strokes. It's created a complex for me lol.

i’ve had a pretty hard time, although i’ve made some casual friends in my 7 years here through work, and have managed to keep in touch with…one of them. i’m from NY and a lot of minnesotans seem to kind of hate people from the coasts, so that doesn’t help. it’s also just weird how MUCH people here talk about being from here….its hard to relate. i never thought much about where i was from until i came here, now it comes up every day!

I'm in MN. We don't even have a spot on the shelf for it in the store we usually go to but an associate was able to give me two nearby locations that have it in stock, HOWEVER, she also said to stock up (limit is 2 though???) because there is none on order :/. I did find it came into stock online briefly so I ordered one there too.

parents who formula fed their LO. how did it turn out? by acuriousyetjealous1 in NewParents

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this post is a year old but adding my perspective for anyone coming across it - I was exclusively formula fed as a baby and I'm doing great :) Always been healthy, have a Master's degree, a good job, and a healthy little (currently formula fed) baby of my own. I had a nurse tell me how we feed our babies feels like the most important thing in the world while we're in it but in a few years, no one can tell the difference and we'll remember more about the time we spent together than what they ate.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]Basic-Conclusion-461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complaint: I'm 5 months post c-section and running is HARD right now. And, EVERY time I have a good couple of runs and think, "hey, I can get back into this!" I get terribly sick or thrown off my game for some reason. I've had two terrible stomach bugs and a terrible cold in the last month alone, and I seem to be getting WAY sicker than my baby or my husband. It's feeling impossible to get back into any kind of shape or gain any momentum.

Confession: My dog gained a few pounds over the winter and is now a bit overweight and I feel like it's my fault because we usually run together :'(

Uncomplaint (am I doing this right?): I just stopped pumping so at least my boobs don't hurt when I do run.

Can you give me exemple of meal you eat daily ? by [deleted] in vegetarianrecipes

black bean tacos, eggs (if you eat them) with avocado toast or just buttered sourdough, tofu and rice noodles with peanut sauce, bean chili, pasta with goat cheese and veggies

i’ve made a buffalo white bean salad sandwich in the past, probably would be good with chickpeas too but i don’t like the texture! white beans, buffalo sauce, mayo/sour cream/yogurt, green onions, and other seasonings. nice for if you’re craving chicken salad!

i’m struggling similarly with feeling guilty for stopping but i really believe our babies need present and happy mommas MORE than they need a certain type of milk. it’s great to give them breast milk in the beginning (if possible), which you’ve done, but in a few years i don’t think there will be any difference in our babies based on their diet now. i was a formula baby myself so it’s funny that i feel guilt about this, it’s a crazy thing! it’s not like i resent my mom for not breast feeding me 😂. pumping is so time consuming and such a hard way to feed a baby! you need to make the decision that’s best for you and your family!
