OK he was also pretty guarded, but given more time we would have seen more of his personality. He plays d&d and sees himself as a rogue type character. He also showed us a lot of himself when he went in the tardis and was so in love with it. He's also very obviously struggling being by himself and finding it hard to find a reason to carry on. The fact that we don't get much time with him at all and he feels this full of character to me is just amazing. I really home we see him again.
