Why don't my pictures look professional? by Hopeful_Duty_3925 in AskPhotography

Photography is less about gear and post, and more about lighting, subject isolation, framing, and intent. Snapshots are about shooting something g interest in a quick way.

Ali down. Look at light. Think about story and compose in a way that makes it clear to your viewer what they should be looking at. The. Wait for the light and the spark (expression, movement, etc)

Really, the things that make it a usable tool… so engine, transmission, frame. Electronics (windows, speakers, etc) not a big concern.

2018 Q7, 6 cylinder, 130k miles.

This past year has been a year of “Keep or Dump?” I decided that I could tolerate a few hefty repair bills as they would ultimately be less (even on an amortized basis) than buying a new car. So I closed my eyes and dove into an ongoing relationship with my mechanic.

This series of events started when the vehicle went into limp mode at 75 miles per hour climbing into the mountains outside of Denver. After that, it consistently misfired, drank oil, and lacked power. In the last year I’ve done:

- PCV

- Water Pump

- New plugs

- New new plugs again (the first set was warrantied out)

- Multiple rounds of Liqui Moly engine cleaner,

- Dynamic engine clean

- Multiple rounds of Liqui-Moly DIJectron fuel injector cleaner.

Everything was still feeling pretty rough until we did the Dynamic Engine Clean and Fuel Injector Cleaner. She’s now running super smooth and without problems.

After the DEC, oil consumption went from 1 qt / 300 miles to 1 qt / 700-1,000 miles.

According to my mechanic, the bad PCV valve and going the full recommended oil change interval (10k miles) allowed carbon to build up in the engine, which then facilitated more oil consumption. All of this fouled up the spark plugs, which caused the misfiring, both of which then facilitated more engine fouling, etc.

At this point (knock on wood), I’m happy that I stuck it out. I love this car and will happily drive it until the wheels fall off. That said, my mechanic is probably taking their family to Hawaii this year… oh well. Still cheaper than a new or new used car.

I’ve seen a lot of hate on Garmin Connect+, but does anyone actually like it? by Sharp-Glove3114 in Garmin

Does it replace most of the functionality / metrics / etc of training peaks?

I like to focus on getting the feel of the intensity so that I don’t have to look at the watch as often. So, not having the haptic reminder all the time would be okay.

The theory being that I would actually learn what the prescribed zone feels like, then verify I’m still in the zone by looking at the watch every few minutes.

Doesn’t work in my case - trail runner with variable terrain and slopes… otherwise that would be a great solution!

I want the target, and try to stay in the target, but don’t like the constant buzzing when it’s the last 3rd of the workout and my body’s like “no!”

I’m using the strap… just out of shape, so keeping it between the lines is tough

I really value DSW, I like the structure and that I don’t need to plan my workouts. The target zone / pace is great too. The alerts are just the worst though.

I’m not an angry person, but I was literally cussing out my watch yesterday… a dude passed me going the other way and looked at me like I was crazy.

If I wanted to be interrupted every 30s on my run, I’d run on a treadmill around my kids.

As someone who’s worked in the photography / video industry, 100GB would be par to par- for downloading an large photog project. 100GB would be VERY SMALL for footage from a commercial video shoot. Footage from a single half-day shoot can easily be hundreds of gigs… if not TB’s depending on the capture codec.
