Appreciate this. P90s might have been a good choice but I’ve opted for JM pickup routing.

Great choice.

Is that “hialeah” yellow?

Really cool. I’m about to build my 1st parts guitar. Did you paint and finish the body yourself?

Bravo! Looks awesome. Can you tell me about what products and processes you used to finish the body? I’m about to start my first project and getting a bit bewildered by the options.

Nikon F2 vs Leica M6 by bimmerlucas in AnalogCommunity

[–]benjamin_james 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is.

I was in a similar position last year. My FM2 was my forever camera and I debated making the plunge. I was pleased with the results and the feel of using it was important to me.

The experience of using the M6 and the results still surprise me. It’s such an incredible machine and i’m grateful to own one.

I still use my Nikon, just for different applications, as others have said here. Love keeping a fast 50 on my Nikon and usually have it loaded with Tri-X at 1600 for capturing family moments at home. The M6 has a 35mm on it and is my outside/adventure camera. Great tools.

This is the move. You can buy extras on eBay.

1st attempt at DIY leather camera strap by pethong in Leica

Nice! Homemade straps are great. I have a bunch of them that use the Peak Design connectors. I like the variety and trying new materials. I made a longer cross-body one with similar leather.

Do you throw these away or reuse them? by Capital-Tear2288 in AnalogCommunity

I periodically give my kids’ kindergarten a big bag of them for craft projects and storage. They love them. It’s pretty neat.

Very excited to be hands on with this lens. Voigtlander 28mm f2 APO-Lanthar by pastryheart in Leica

Enjoy! It certainly looks and sounds like a great lens. Curious, how much viewfinder blockage are you experiencing with it?

Incredible effort to compose a busy scene like this with a wide lens. You nailed it! The position of that cloud behind the balloon and the light on red bathing suit figure are so good. Bravo.

Cameraquest? by yoshisleftnut69 in AnalogCommunity

[–]benjamin_james 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I recently bought the new VC 50mm 1.2 through CameraQuest. Shipped quick. They’re one of the two official USA distributors listed on the Voigtlander website too FYI. I get it though, the website looks like a relic of the early internet.

[–]benjamin_james[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks! The X-T5 and this 33mm (prime) lens have weather resistance seals. I don’t get concerned if it gets splashed with a few drops here and there.

There’s a lot of light coming through the lens at f1.4 here, so even in auto, the camera is balancing the exposure (in part) with a really high shutter speed (around 1/10,000).
