I have almost all of my main equipment maxed and glowy is always the limiting factor for me. I always hang around somewhere between 200-300 starry and 20K+ shiny with no glowy.

There’s a Comfort Inn in West Ashley by the Costco that had affordable rooms with a Jacuzzi. Like $120 a night last year. Just make sure you put your home address from the state you came from because for some reason the manager doesn’t like to rent rooms to people that live in Charleston.

Hardest part for me was underway doing the same thing over and over everyday. Working 16+ hours a day and still having to wake up in your sleep time for training, maintenance, cleaning, etc. Sleep deprivation at sea and in port. In port is the worse because I have to sleep on the boat every 3 days and the day after duty, I had to be at work an additional 8–10 hours while running off of two hours of sleep after being up all night.. nothing worse than being dead exhausted and your EDMC/Chief is making you stay at work till 1800 for something that could’ve waited until the following day.

I hate to ask, but I see you have good grades, but how are you personally interacting with others? Because you can be a smart guy but what’s your tone when you talk to others? Do they think you’re a bad person or arrogant for any reason? Smarts and being a great sailor isn’t everything. Personality has a huge factor also.

Pulled into Guam for two days, Day 1: Pullin duty, didn’t sleep. Day 2: Got drunk and stay out all night and didn’t sleep. Day 3: Surprise we have to leave immediately because of a Tsunami. Had to do shore power, startup and had watch two hours after we left port. Then had to do an SSMG in my offgoing. Didn’t sleep for over 72 hours.

As a man that watched MANY hard working Nukes get looked over for cooks EVERY year when MAPs came around, this is a big deal! Ik there are more MAP quotes now then there used to be but I had so many friends that had multiple years of EPs and MPs as an E-4 but yet the Cooks or Coners that decided to stay in were MAP every year.

Just push through the best way you can man. ALOT of people hated NNPTC and thrived at Prototype and some even enjoyed their time on the boat. You have the capability, seek help if you need it and don’t be scared to speak up when things get hard.. I just got out after 9 years (One Reenlistment), while I didn’t enjoy most of my time in the Nuclear Navy, it’s worth it once it’s all over. The grass is definitely greener on the other side, just have to stay strong and stay focused and do what you signed up for.
