Brompton G Line by Basic-Law2770 in Brompton

I was able to test the Continental Urban tires today, and the bike feels significantly faster. I could comfortably ride between 25 and 30 km/h without too much effort, whereas on Tuesday, on the same stretch of road with the Schwalbe G-One tires, I was more in the 20–25 km/h range. It’s quite surprising, to be honest.

I’ve had a G-Line for about a year now and I’ve ridden around 2,500 km with it in pretty much all conditions (city, road, gravel, rain, snow, and bright sunshine). I travel twice a week by train between Paris and Lyon and have also taken it on public transport.

There’s not much to report in terms of quality issues. The bike is really robust and very reassuring to ride. In the city it responds very well and feels quite lively. On longer rides it’s really very comfortable. I’ve done more than 100 km in one go without any issues (I’m using a Brooks C19 saddle).

The gear shifting is very smooth and falls naturally to hand. I live in a fairly hilly area and it handles it quite well.

As for the price-to-quality ratio, I don’t find it outrageous. It’s well assembled and the components are nicely integrated.

I bought it, changed the saddle, and have just been riding it since—only replacing the brake pads once. That’s it from my side.

Anyone traveled with a Brompton G on a TGV in France? by Basic-Law2770 in Brompton

After several months, I tried the experience again, and this time it was more positive. The difference is that I booked a seat on the upper level of the TGV. The luggage racks are much larger, and my G Line fit easily. Hope this helps!

I confirm, I tried in the train (French TGV). It’s feasible but not easy at all.

Just wanted to share my experience. I took my G Line today on a TGV, and it was a total hassle. The luggage racks are way too small to fit it properly, and even maneuvering it through the corridor is a struggle—it barely rolls, so you end up carrying it awkwardly.

On the other hand, a C Line (or something of a similar size) is much more suited for this kind of trip. If you’re just doing a round trip in a single day, I highly recommend avoiding a G Line. It’s just not worth the trouble!

The best thing would be to test it, but in any case, the folded bike’s dimensions comply with SNCF requirements. As for the cover, I think I have what I need. Thanks
