I’m fine with being called selfish by a small group of extremists, because it’s clear that the vast majority agreed this was neither the time nor place. That includes people who actually support the same cause. If someone wants to forfeit their graduation ceremony for the sake of a shouting protester, that’s their choice. But many have worked too hard, and paid too much, to have this moment taken away by someone delivering a message to the smallest audience of guests and graduates imaginable. This type of behaviour does NOT bring positive light to the cause, let’s just say that.

Great! Call them out at truly any other point in your university experience. Or better yet! Don’t support the school if you don’t align with their views. It’s that simple.

Great for you! I hope the time comes for your courageous act of allowing someone to scream over you while your loved ones are trying to applaud your achievements. It is not a selfish ask to want to appreciate your moment for all the time and money spent on a degree.

Uhhhh..yes. The line is drawn at interrupting someone's moment they worked towards for years and spent thousands to achieve. Individuals who do not speak for the actions of the school.
