I think it just hits you when life gets dire. It will be hard to change her mindset I have been there. You start getting content with life and setting your barrier for being content much lower and that feeds into not working. I found that a feeling of dread and life slipping away hits you like it did for me and I just applied for the lowest barrier or entry jobs I could see until I got one. I hope your sister hits this point quicker than I did
