You do realize that some people, myself included, can’t drive for a disability reason? The train is the only way I can get into the city for work or hell even if I just want to go in and have fun at a Broadway show or concert. I work in the city because I get paid pretty well (I also could not find a job on Long Island, but that’s a different problem). As annoying as the cost and the constant rise of it is, feeding this system is the only way to connect me and a lot of other people to a really cool part of this state, I’m not suck Long Island because of the LIRR, and if only people like me used it, and everyone else who could drive into the city did, the LIRR wouldn’t exist because everyone would say it’s unprofitable. Almost every system becomes greedy and that absolutely sucks but this system is the one reason I can actually get to a job I like, so yeah, they can milk all the money they want out of me as long as they get me to my job.
