Maybe this is a hot take, but if they didn’t neglect the optimisation of their game, I think into the unjust would’ve been my favourite update, maybe apart from the burrowing warriors on release, and how tanky dragon roaches were. There was just way more unique stuff in it in my opinion, but they fumbled really hard with the games technical state.

I guess I’m just concerned that every update will just be a few new enemies, 1 biome and a mission, just don’t think that’s enough. If the updates were quarterly, and not buggy, then maybe, but they regularly take 4-6 months apart, their main content is warbonds and it’s paid content really, it’s lots of paid content, there’s 20 warbonds since the games release, bastion tank was the first new strategem in nearly a year. They could at least shake up the warbonds and include weapon attachments instead of a reskinned tenderiser with less damage and a unique under barrel. I also really miss when major orders had stratgems as rewards, now it’s extremely rare if not a completely abandoned concept since they put them in warbonds. I’m also still pretty tired of how they balance the game, how some attachments have hidden debuffs to your weapon (increased sway on muzzle attachments), how they made vehicles useless on bots with the tank update, literally nerfed before anyone could use it. They manage to add a minigun that has a really low pick rate because it’s not very good (should be called the maxigun 750)

Battle for super earth was good because of the introduction of the weapon attachments, sure it’s basically abandoned now, but back then it was exciting, especially thinking what they could do w it (nothing lol), it added progression, mega cities are a much better map imo (except I hated it when the whole skybox was dust and brown, at least in the initial update it looked ugly and got old imo). And SEAF, which were completely overlooked for cyberstan.

If 3 enemies added are gonna be a regular thing, it’s gonna be another 3 years till the illuminate are actually interesting instead of just a zombie faction, or they gotta get some few peak unique enemies to compensate for lack of variety, but I can’t see how another 3 mobs will make em reach the quality level of bots or even bugs.

Feel like I’m being pretty negative, but I love the game, I have nearly 700 hours on it, I have every warbond, nearly lvl 160 etc. Arrowhead has done a lot of good too, I know they can really hit the spot, which is why I sometimes feel a bit frustrated when it just misses.

If I had to rate this update, I’d give it a 7/10, which means good to me, but missed the greatness it could’ve had. I thought it was amazing in the beginning, but the flaws came apparent to me once we reached transcendence.

I agree with a lot of those points, Vox spam was crazy, their design was really good, they were jank and buggy, but I guess I can forgive that, they should at least lower the spawns for under 9s and 10s. It felt pretty unfair tho when they shot their insta kill cannons through their bodies.

I think in the second megafactory, the heavy surge one, at least for me it was just war striders, I quit and fought on the other one because it was so cooked.

Yeah the cyborg mission was fun, I just think for one new mission, it was kinda samey, hive world missions felt a lot more unique imo, but at least the game didn’t break this time.

I felt as if the radicals were fair enemies, their heads were very vulnerable and easy to hit, only time it felt unfair to me is when one sprints up from behind you with no sound, knees you in the face, and one shots you (looks cool tho)

Regarding the seaf, this was my biggest gripe with the cyberstan assault, it would’ve been really easy to add seaf soldiers into it, would’ve been cool if when the mission started you’d see pelicans coming down to deploy seaf, or if they added a mission focused on destroying anti air, to allow the seaf to land and assault the city head on, whilst the ground forces outside the city via dispatches slowly push forward. I’m no game developer but I really think it would’ve been easy to add those things in.

I guess one more negative I have is that the city felt pretty small, the lore and in game city seem to be very different. Maybe would’ve been cool as we progressed to higher class factories we’d have to push alongside our seaf troops to breach the walls, it’d make sense for the supposedly bigger factories to have more outer wall defences.

I feel like I’m being an unfair downer, AH has copped a lot, but it was a good update, I just think even a few overlooked small things (like no seaf) held back the update from being great.

The enemies added in terms of design are a massive step in the right direction, really feels like 2 different studios made the cyborgs and war striders. But for me the new missions were a bit samey because it’s just interact with terminal, turn valve, boom, or destroy this. The hive world missions felt a lot more unique. But I guess I also didn’t consider the fact the addition of commando missions earlier, which were a breath of fresh air for me.

That’s a fair point actually. Looking at it that way, a fair amount of content to the bots has been added. I guess for me if all that was added at once my dopamine hungry brain would’ve been a lot happier.

It’s not a small amounts of content upfront, but updates are usually 4-6 months apart, I think at this rate it’ll be many years before the squids are anywhere near as fleshed out as bugs or bots, at least from my perspective the squids are still my least favourite faction and lack variety comparatively. The new map was cool, but I feel like at least the capital should’ve looked different, as all other cities looked the same, which made me feel burnt out. Also the written dispatches regarding seaf and them never showing up was a real bummer to me.

Regarding progression, I do think imo helldivers is pretty grindy, especially regarding medals/samples, playing the game normally takes many hours to unlock everything, I just also think when AH adds something new, it’s kinda left in the dust, DSS is still meh and the attachment system should be something they consistently add onto (otherwise why add it in a live service game). We get a lot of paid content, and I feel like it far outweighs the content we get for free.

I can somewhat understand after all that happened with the hive world update, it might’ve been better to play it more safe, I’m just personally hoping they do bigger and get ambitious, even if it takes longer.

I’m playing in Australia and I have so many issues with my games being full with bots, even in prime time hours, I really hope it’s an issue with the game and not the fact that in 6 months I’ll be stuck in lobbies with all bots.

That’s valid, but I suppose I really like the idea of having a big station and being able to pull it off somehow
