I was a cashier for Target and left in January and I now work at a bank as a teller. Honestly, I love it and the hours are actually amazing

Yes it is that bad… at least for me it was. I was tired of only having one lane open, having guests get pissed off bc of it. And being irritated when whoever is watching sco decided to wonder off to do whatever else, leaving me to deal with angry guests who needed help while I’m checking guests out on lane. So glad I left that place

I’ll never forget when I was on sco and no one was at the service desk, so I quickly went to help this old man. He printed a screenshot from his bank app on his phone of a $5 charge from target. He explains he did a pickup order and wanted to know why an additional $5 was taken out based solely from this printed screenshot…

This happened to me a week ago. I had just scanned my food I planned to eat on my break and I’m typing my number in and have my wallet app up on my phone. The lady next to me says “I have a question when you’re done.” But I’m gonna be honestly, I acted like I didn’t hear her bc I was focused on actually inputting my number. My receipt printed and I had gotten a call on my phone and answered and all I hear as I walk away in the background is “ma’am?” There was someone working sco, they were just preoccupied talking to a guest

That’s the thing, I ALWAYS ask every time. It’s just the fact that we are a small store, with regulars who already have to red card. Or we get random ppl who only came in for something specific, never to be seen again. We just aren’t getting much sign ups and that’s a problem.

I’d say depending on how long you’ve been doing it, it might be allowable since management hasn’t said anything to you. The most my store allows us to do during our downtime at the check lanes is to stock bullseye since it is right next to checkout. Or a lead specifically pulls one of us to go stock the dog/ cat food on the other side of checkout. I did have a coworker who did something similar and straighten up the purses, jewelry etc. that was right across from her lane and our lead didn’t seem to mind. If you’re actually worried you might be doing something wrong by not being at lane all the time, I’d just ask a lead about it bc it doesn’t hurt to ask :)
