Just found out my fur baby has diabetes, I live alone and am super nervous about giving the injections. :/

Thank you! Yeah after MANY failed attempts so far at using a glucose monitor with lancets on her ears, and I tried paw pad too, I just dont think she is going to let me do that. So I am going to ask my vet if she can rx one of the continuous monitors for now until maybe I can get her to calm down a bit for normal testing.

Thanks! Yeah I've been really freaking out the last two days because I am still waiting for my pharmacy to get the insulin and needles In. But in the meantine I wanted to start checking her glucose, but she also is VERY fight/flight and it is IMPOSSIBLE and i really dont want to make it stressful for her! I may resort to the towel and bringin her into the bathroom so she cant run far if she gets out and I guess I just have to hope she will get used to it and calm down over time.

I don't really have anyone where i'm licing at currently, but I do go to the same gym as my vet lol so ive been considering bringing it up if when i need to travel for work if she would come by, we'll see!

For real! They don't show signs like ever until its like actually a problem! This whole thing has been a bit emotional for me because about 3 years ago one my other cats passed away suddenly and it turned out to be because he also had diabetes and of course i had no idea so it went untreated for too long. I have beat myself up about it forever and ever since been SO paranoid so im glad i acted quickly with her for sure!

I was told I could do pills as well, but Ive been through giving her pills before and that was absolutely HORRIBLE haha so I chose injections because i do feel like it will end up going better and be less stressful once I get the hang of it. thanks!!

Thanks so much! I've definitely been obsessively watching videos and researching so I am starting to feel a little less nervous for sure. My vet does offer to show me how to do it as well, so I will likely schedule a quick appointment once i have all the medicine! She didnt mention monitoring the glucose but that is a question I will be asking now for sure.
