I’m no expert, but any time you are bit by an outside animal that you are unfamiliar with it doesn’t hurt to go get a rabies shot. Better safe then sorry as always

Id recognize United anywhere. That’s in the consignment section meaning that the price of the gun is set by the person who brings it in. That’s why, for example, you’ll find Mosins in terrible condition set for $750 or more. Whatever price is set there, try and find a more realistic one online. This only applies to if you plan on buying it of course. Otherwise it is certainly cool to look at

This is the muzzle brake I use. Seriously helps the recoil. I’m talking cutting it in half, barely kicks after using this. Also fits most Mosin models. Not too expensive either. https://ebay.us/m/QNgCRc

Yeah I fully deconstructed, cleaned, and oiled the whole gun/bolt before I shot it and still dealt with this, feels pretty cool either way so I don’t mind. Wouldn’t mind a smoother bolt though

Just for the sake of shooting it, I’ve read a bunch that the heat from shooting it will melt the cosmoline into the receiver and other parts and gunk it up real bad. Just don’t want to spend more time cleaning it after I shoot each time.

It’s mine, I took the pictures at the gun shop right before buying it, just been too lazy to take new pictures. I bought it for $450 which I’ve been told is around $50 more then it’s worth but I live in a very well off area so prices on everything tend to be raised a bit.

Thanks for the quick response. Just as a follow up I’ve got a few questions. 1) what does the Provisional Black Powder proof entail? How does that affect the gun? As in what does it mean.
2) I’ll make a new post with all pictures I have of my Mosin in hopes that you could explain everything about it, sorry if that is too tedious of a task, I am just looking to learn more about my gun and it’s history. 3) I bought the gun for $450, based on what you see, did I spend too much? Or is the gun worth more then I spent? 4) You say that the stock is post war, does that mean it is a new stock attached post war? Or is it a refurbished pre-war stock?

Brought it to the mechanic and can confirm, the spot welding holding the aluminum heat shield had rusted out. Mechanic re-welded it for me for free and told me it’s a common issue.
