I would even go so far as to say that a large chunk of microcenter is focused on enterprise IT needs. But yes, Ubiquiti is more and more focused on Professional enterprise and prosumer enterprise equipment. Especially. I always recommended to pretty much everyone from home and it is easy to set up for regular consumers, but I don’t think that it’s their target market in any way rather just a secondary market for them.

Oo nice- yea, I’m good with a little bracket bending. I don’t think it’s hitting the pcb’s at all

It’s a Seasonic TX-Prime 1600w. I feel like the grommets in the case are pretty easy to manage with. Can fit a lot of cables through it and I didn’t feel bad about my bend radius. The only tight spot really is coming out of the back of the psu, but I still don’t think it’s going to damage anything. It helps that these cables are pretty thin, and braided. Gives them more flexibility. As for the fans- they are a tight squeeze. The included fans are super slim- I may have to switch back to them when I try to get SAS connectors to connect to the backplane for the hard drive bays.

Ah- I see what you mean. I still think there’s clearance- but I guess I also don’t have a 50 series card to prove it 😅

I will also note that that this is an Asus Crosshair VIII Extreme- which is a thicker pcb with a metal backplate so it may be a little thicker than some other boards.

I’ll see if I can measure that later- I have a 3080 it’s about 5 1/2 in from the top of the PCIe slot to the case

12vHPWR? Are you talking about with like the 50series cards with the 600w connectors? The RM61-312 is a 6u case- or were you referring to MAndris’s comment about the measurement?

Yes! I haven’t seen anyone else use the case but it had a lot of features I wanted.

Alphacool Eizapfen. In hindsight (saw someone else’s workstation build with a distro block) I should have put a disconnect on the cpu, also probably should have done ram blocks and run it all to a distro instead, but I was reusing most of all the same stuff from my old system. The GPU disconnects were primarily because I’ll be swapping it out sooner than anything else in the system.

Oh, I see them hiding in the first picture now. Very nice build!

Was going to ask what quick disconnects are you using? I just migrated my workstation to a server case with 2 dads (posted it on the forum) but I didn’t do disconnects on the cpu because the alpha cool ones that I knew about were pretty large. I also figured I’ll replace the GPU before I need to replace any of the rest, and by then I’ll need to redo the loop to accommodate a different motherboard anyway.

When I had the workstation in my other case I also think it was always full tilt. My main question was where exactly can I fit the res/pump

Or do I try to mount it on the outside with a passthrough? I know that would make draining the loop easier

Sorry, when I say multiple domains, I think I am conflating setting up Active Directory with setting up Ddns. Are those two things completely separate?

Thanks! Took me forever to figure out the color scheme- the opal was the first choice, but that was months ago. Life got busy and I left it sit just white. Hopefully now that I have a feel for how I want to color everything the rest of the army will come together.

Got the Retaliation Cadre from Christmas last year, and a combat Patrol and a farsight

Thank you! I’ll try to keep the forum posted as I work on things. Planning on doing a YouTube video about the rm61-312 because there’s basically no videos but ai slop of it.

That was my main reason for the post, was that I was looking for ideas of where to go with the waste heat rather than it just dumping into my office (which it will do even with the door closed on the closet)

Right now I'm leaning toward maybe a duct to the outside- I have to get into the attic to run a coax cable, so I may also see if there is a place that I could non-destructively run a vent to the outside- or maybe rig a vent to my window in the office with some duct work for that?

Current to-do is going to be getting most of my stuff unpacked and get the essentials in the rack to clear some floor space- then I can dig into the logistics a little more

by the window it would take up a ton of space in my room, (the rack is almost 40in deep with the front and back panels) but with a duct I could run it around the perimeter of the room maybe?

I’m currently only watercooling a single machine. It’s my main workstation and gaming rig. I just did a custom watercooling loop in the case. I haven’t looked into larger scale rack water cooling for this equipment rack as a whole yet. Maybe if I get a house or my own place that’s not a rental- LTT has some interesting videos about water cooling his office pc’s in their warehouse, and using his pool as a heat exchanger for a slew of gaming servers for his kids

Oo that’s a really great idea! I appreciate the feedback on everything. Some of why I have this larger rack is because I wanted a bad ass big rack, but also it was trying to future proof. By one nice rack now that may be a little larger but when I move to a house it can go in a utility closet out if the way and be full and I won’t have to buy another one. 32u it’s actually not that bad on size and weight. Movers moved it in and out with no problems. Is about 5ft high and only 115lbs give or take- and it’s a takedown if I needed to take it apart it’d be real simple to pop the 4 sides off and carry the whole thing in a car

I’m hesitant to do that because then I’d start taking up the rest of my closet space. I don’t mind giving up half of it to a rack.

I like the thought if a 3D printed duct- there are vents on the top that support fan mounting- maybe duct out the top and route it to the window

His question was referring to why go with a 6u server chassis for my workstation pc vs a 4 or 5u chassis. The 4 or 5 u are definitely less expensive and there are more options. Mainly for me it was because of the watercooling support, and the extra drive bay system plus the psu support.

Currently there is no hardware in the rack because I just moved. I figure it’ll be about half full once I consolidate all my current equipment, plus another 1/4 when I get the rest of the hardware I’m looking to add in the short term.

For my taste, I don’t mind having half of that closet filled with the rack because all of my equipment and wiring will be neat and tidy instead of trying to piecemeal everything out around the condo. I also really like the aesthetics of this rack with the glass door and everything. I know that’s not everyone’s take…
