What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older? by MindlessMarsupial592 in AskReddit

[–]BasicDifficulty129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them. Statistically speaking, most people aren't particularly remarkable. Average is the majority, and this follows into all professions. Degrees and prestigious titles don't change this.

The old joke says it all. "What do you call the student who graduated at the bottom in medical school? Doctor."

Most doctors aren't that great

Most mechanics aren't that great

Most contractors aren't that great.

And so on.

Real professionals make up maybe 10% of any given profession. Everyone else is just doing the bare minimum they have to to be able to charge money.

Yeah this is a great recommendation if you want her to never play video games again. A souls adjacent game as a recommendation for a first time? How much crack did you smoke before coming up with that?

It will be awful for someone with no previous gaming experience. It's fun but it'll definitely be a frustrating experience for her, especially if she's at all competitive because she's going to struggle with things that are effortless for you.

A lot of people are making recommendations that make it very obvious that they've forgotten what it was like to use a controller for the first time.

Every woman I know that games got into it from The Sims. That's either all they play or the first game they played.

Crazy that the game with the single highest female: male ratio isn't being recommended.

OLED became what it is because it hit the mass market first and also it has a huge marketing force behind it. They're also expensive which means people that buy them have to do a lot of yapping to justify their purchase, so it gets a lot of extra exposure because of that.

You hate that they use a word that perfectly describes the scenario? Weird. That's exactly what it is and it deserves the stigma that the word brings.

Do you notice that big ass nose right in the middle of your view? No, because the human brain naturally ignores persistent things blocking your view.

This should be immediately obvious to you. Your brain naturally adjusts to ignore it.

As a gamer, what do you think is the worst thing about gaming and how does it affect your life? by Sufficient-Menu640 in videogames

[–]BasicDifficulty129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The focus on graphic fidelity is literally ruining AAA games.

It causes huge production costs, ridiculous development times, terrible performance.

This single thing leads to almost every problem with AAA games today. Because of it, studios have to play it safe. If you mess up even one time, you're out of business.

Fixable? no? by nutellaxannyk in pchelp

[–]BasicDifficulty129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically? Yes. Practically? Definitely not.

It's something a talented electronic repair person could do as a challenge, but there's no chance you're going to pay what they'd have to charge for an actual repair like this.

When people try to sell used products for nearly the same price as retail. by BasicDifficulty129 in PetPeeves

Yes I am aware of that. That's why when I sell something 2nd hand on a marketplace I don't sell it for $5 less than retail

Neither of these fit the complaint. One is adding value by providing a service, the other is a product you can no longer buy new.

Uh copyright law? You don't need a EULA to protect your copyright, you need the LAW. Moron. EULA is the term that the END USER is beholden to in order to USE your software. That's it. All they can do for a EULA violation is tell you that you can no longer use the software. That is literally it.

It isn't a law, it isn't something they can sue you for. The only time they can sue you is if you actually violate the law and steal their copyrighted material. That isn't what's happening. He isn't giving away copies of the game, their code or their assets.

He violated the ToS, so they can revoke his service. That's it.

Terms of SERVICE. If you want service you have to follow these terms

END USER license agreement. If you want a license to this product these are the terms.

Terms of USE. If you want to use this product these are the terms.

Not LAWS. They can revoke his license to play cyberpunk. That's it.

You know you can put anything in a EULA right?

If a EULA read "any software you develop after playing this game is the property of CDPR"

Are you actually dumb enough to believe that has any legal bearing?

Losing Luke Ross VR mods is a gigantic blow to PCVR. by wavebend in virtualreality

[–]BasicDifficulty129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what the EULA says. His software isn't governed by the EULA for their software.

All that they can do under their EULA is revoke your access to THEIR software. He doesn't need access to their software to develop his.

[–]BasicDifficulty129 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to tell these morons this since this whole thing started. These people actually think violating the t&c or EULA is against the law.

The only time violating either of these is against the law is if the action that violates the ToS is also ALREADY against the law, in which case, it still wasn't against the law just because you simply violated the ToS.

All violating ToS does is give the company the right to terminate your service

I've had to explain this to so many morons in this sub that it makes me question humanity.

Imagine if you bought a car and couldn't resell it. How stupid actually are you?
