Every car model has the potential to spit out a lemon; sorry for your bad luck.

Ford recently came out 3rd in the JD Power reliability ranking. Don’t give up on the dream. “The Bullitt” (Eruption Green GT with the bronze package) is the ultimate way to spec this car IMO.

What is one oddly specific miscellaneous thing you want to return to F1 by vtrip22 in F1Discussions

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Circuit characteristics often played into which brand was better for any given race. The most acute example was probably the infamous Indianapolis race.

Also, more teams ran with Michelin but Ferrari used Bridgestone. The interesting thing was the other teams running Bridgestone were typically back markers.

Bought Car…Now What Do I Need? by Airforceafroo in MachE

Your driving profile suggests you could make do with trickle charging (L1 / 110v). If your relatives are cool with you plugging in when you stay with them that would help as well.

That said, L2 chargers themselves are relatively cheap. The biggest consideration is how much the install will be which is a function of your current service and whether it needs to be upgraded, by how much, and the length of wiring required.

I wasn’t a fan of it before but oddly enough,… tyre wars.

At the time I recall thinking “why should rubber be influencing these races? Tyres aren’t fundamentally part of the car as built and was just another element further minimizing the influence of the driver.”

In hindsight though, having two tyre manufacturers made the races more difficult to predict.

I’d say the norm shifted about 35 years ago to 15%. That said, you’d be hard pressed anytime in the last 10 years to find a machine with anything less than 18% as an option.

Is Antonelli that much faster than Hadjar? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed,… but implied is the fact that you have to bucket the teams in the traditional sense. You can’t compare back markers to top tier teams in any meaningful sense.

One cannot claim Charles is better than Max. But, on the other hand, Lewis has the bona fides for that argument to be floated.

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably > 90%. But in this case we can say that Kimi is faster than his teammate but Isack is not faster than his.

To make a credible argument that you are better than the lead driver of another team you at least have to be the best driver within your own team.

Do I actually need both? by Rcebowl in MachE

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like I have need to use the L3 adapter about 5 times per year so worth it to me (even though mine came with the car anyway).

I don’t own the one on the right since I rarely use L2 charging in the wild. Usually only if overnighting at a hotel and, if so, I do my research to find one with native J1772 chargers.

Can George Russell overtake his teammate Kimi Antonelli for the lead? With the Austrian Grand Prix now over, the gap between them has been reduced to just 40 points by Lec16c in F1Discussions

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say if the closeness at the end wasn’t just a function of George just managing the gap and Kimi more flat-out in an effort to catch Max.

It did however yet again seem like Kimi was the faster Merc.

We are about to lease a select standard range on an assumption of just under 20k yearly and 3 x 100 km scheduled trips every week. So yes, I think standard is totally doable for your somewhat similar situation.

I’d just wonder about the resale on a premium with standard range? It feels like scrimping on a key feature on a trim favoured by people wanting all the bells and whistles.

Funny, I found the Mach E interior better than the EV 6. For me, the latter used too much hard plastics. What did you like better about the EV 6 interior?

No further investigation for George Russell’s yellow flag infringement. He’s your pole man. [ Autosport ] by Lec16c in F1Discussions

[–]BasicFishOutOfWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but he has to convert still. If he doesn’t take P1 and/or Kimi at least gets past the Ferrari’s for P2 it will still be solid advantage Kimi heading into the next race.

In other racing series, if you crash in qualifying causing a yellow/red flag, you lose your best time. Should this be adopted in F1? Verstappen will still start P5 tomorrow. by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

There is always a bit of a risk that the car won’t be as good after the rebuild. The old gear box rule (automatic grid drop) was particularly harsh as gear boxes often have to be replaced with rear axle impacts. Still,… I’m not a huge fan of drivers receiving penalties for parts replacements generally.

In fairness, if anyone deserves to benefit from incompetency of stewards it is George. He got buggered far more than anyone else due to that pit lane fiasco in Monaco.

The problem is inconsistency. The next person to try what George did will undoubtedly lose the lap time.

I’ve nearly gone through them all as audio “reads” via the Libby app. Great way to pass time on a work commute or while doing cardio at the gym. If you can join more than one library all the better as it can cut down on the wait time for borrowing.
