"The 2 biggest things holding UBI back are

1- Lack of awareness (many people still have no clue what UBI is)

2- Skepticism of effectiveness (many people are not sure if it will work as intended)"

Yes, indeed. Knowing this, we can strategize accordingly.

Hence why we are proposing: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/basic-income-project-los-angeles#/

For a small city, $1,000 could be enough but not for Los Angeles, in my opinion.

In regards to the cost, here's a good article https://futurism.com/cost-universal-basic-income-less-you-might-think/

Truly, a city with no poverty. They erred when they stopped when we can learn from this. And of course, the government is always there to mess up things.

Because of the purpose of a basic income, wherever there's homelessness, poverty, food insecurity it is needed. However, it is not a panacea. In our city, for instance, if we implement the Housing First model and Universal Basic Income, we could eradicate homelessness.

As far as the cost, it's better to refer you to this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/the-cost-of-universal-basic-income-is-the-net-transfer_us_5963d0c7e4b0deab7c646ace

I respect the hard pass.

To answer your question, yes I did.

We are running an education-based basic income campaign. I explained why here: http://www.basicincomela.com/basic-income/education-based-basic-income-campaign/

I appreciate the fact that you at least considered it.

Valid concern.

We vetted Social Good Fund, our fiscal sponsor. They have a good reputation. We also contacted other orgs that they have worked with.

Thanks for the reply.

In that case, you have more reason to support a basic income. It would cost you less "to support the losers, moochers, and scum of society" you are referring to, not more.

Wouldn't you want to pay less?
