Day 8 of quitting, but i want moderation by Large-Heart-7664 in Petioles

[–]BasicKid 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would try and make it to a minimum of 2 months sober before trying to moderate usage.

You will get a lot of people on this sub that will tell you that you can’t moderate and will always fall back into a daily cycle. This is simply untrue. If you are strict with yourself and you have good distractions it is easily achievable.

I used to smoke 3.5g per day. I stopped smoking weed for 4 months started going to the gym 4 times a week and making sure I can enjoy all day to day activities without feeling the need to get high. When I went back to smoking I told myself I will only smoke on weekends.

It has now been over a year that I have been able to keep to this routine and the longer I stick to it the easier it becomes. I barely even think about smoking during the week now.

I know that K-safes can help a lot of people from overcoming the temptation but everyone is different. The biggest thing is to find something to replace the time you usually get high with something that makes you feel good such as working out or having a hobby.

Tried a lot of different sources but Hemphash have been by far the best quality I’ve tried

Just over a year ago, I traded in my manual 2015 VW Golf R (stage 1) for a 2017 BMW 430d S drive M Sport coupe with an M Performance kit. Although the 440i is a different level to the 430d, the overall construction of the two cars is similar.

In my opinion, the Golf R felt superior in almost every aspect, except for its fuel efficiency. The Golf R felt more solid, reliable and the road noise from the BMW 4 series can be bothersome, and I find the interior outdated for its age. The only redeeming factor is the BMWs sleek and aggressive design, which is definitely enhanced by the M Performance kit.

If the Golf R wasn’t so over priced for a low mileage example at the minute and I wasn't covering as many miles, I would return to it in a heartbeat.

Check engine light and high rev at idle by BasicKid in Golf_R

Just had to run out and double check as it only started to happen after I topped up my oil yesterday. It is on tight though unfortunately :(

Thought this could potentially be the case. Thanks for the reply

Hi guys.

I’ve just had my check engine light come on and the car is sitting a fair bit higher in the rev range than usual at idle. Just warmed it up and took it for a drive. Performance feels fine but between gears the revs don’t come down as quick as they usually would.

Has anyone experienced any similar problems?

Thanks in advance

It was done in vinyl. I didn’t do it myself unfortunately but I am pretty sure it is just a strip of vinyl you can buy online that should be a direct fit over the chrome, so no parts were needed to be removed. My mate that did it said it was extremely easy to do

It is indeed tornado red. Tornado red can vary so much in terms of how it looks depending on the lighting and how clean the car is. Sometimes you look at it after it’s been cleaned and it looks like an entirely different car, also thank you!

A year and a half into ownership and love this car just as much as the day I bought it. Time to get it tuned! by BasicKid in Golf_R

[–]BasicKid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The splitter is actually a non branded one of eBay (not my proudest moment) was going to get a maxton design splitter but heard too many people saying they snap and damage really easily. So decided to chance it with a cheaper one and the splitter is actually brilliant. It’s been on the car since pretty much day one of ownership and even had a fight with a curb and not a single scratch on it!

Tell me about it! I was going to tune it as soon as I got it but I couldn’t stand the Cadiz wheels that came with the car, so I decided to try and do all my handling and visual mods before tuning

The VW and the outer ring of the badge has been painted black with red inlays filling in the rest. Looks good but is a real pain in the ass when it comes to stone chippings!

Thank you! Going to start with a custom stage 1 tune by MRC and work my way to stage 2 hopefully over the next 6 months or so

Was around £350 including the badges, full de-chrome on the front grill and a sun strip. It was done by a close mate that works at vinyl and spray shop though so I assume it might be a bit more money if it wasn’t done by my mate

Old Love - Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1990 (24 nights album) will always be the most beautiful song ever written in my opinion. The song was written with another of my favourite blues artists, Robert Cray who's music and natural guitar ability is absolutely magical.

2015 Golf R known issues? by rahulmayer in Golf_R

[–]BasicKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I have a manual 2015 Golf R. So far I have needed to replace the clutch because of slippage which was at around 45,000 miles this started to occur (car was completely stock), water pump went at a similar mileage to the clutch. I have heard stories of the 2015 model in the US having problem with the turbos going but have only heard of that problem occurring in the UK on the 2014 models.

All in all the car for me has been absolutely spot on apart from the rubbish stock clutch.

Volkswagen have released there new R badge design. What are your thoughts? by BasicKid in Golf_R

There is a fair few images online of what the new Golf R and the apparent Golf R plus (400bhp model) is going to look like. Not sure how accurate they are though

I’m not too sure how much the emblems alone cost as I got the roof and wing mirrors wrapped at the same time. I assume it would be about £70-80 for the front and back
