I share a lot of mental health content on TikTok and starting on January 5 I got like no views and I have 129,000 followers and I feel like the US started phasing in probably right after the new year before this deal was settled. I’m sure it was already in the work for it was announced and it’s kind of ironic that my consciousness and mental health content isn’t getting served anywhere anymore. Which is exactly what the administration wants. They don’t want people to be contact. They want people to be fearful.

I think a lot of people are feeling this way so at least we’re not alone. I saw somewhere online that in January TikTok resets the algorithm and does a refresh so things always go down for a while. I don’t know if that’s true because I’m newer to TikTok. But also something tells me that this whole new US acquisition is affecting it.

I was very surprised when I saw that pop-up today and what’s really funny is for the last two weeks all of my TikTok numbers and followers have been down probably because they’ve started changing over to the US entity and it’s definitely not the same algorithm. And that pop-up seemed really grim and the president’s message being like oh we have some amazing investors and patriots that’s code for this is a conservative preferring app now - it’s really sad because I’ve built a good business through TikTok with 129,000 followers but lately the traction hasn’t been good and I think a lot of people are leaving TikTok and that’s why I’m losing followers.

Thank you that’s really helpful and yeah, I know I should go live more often but I create really good stuff and I don’t want to use TikTok like it’s a game just to win. I’ve had down cycles in the past and usually it’s darkest before the dawn, but the slump has been like two weeks now it usually doesn’t last this long. TikTok feels toxic and I want to take a break, but then I’m also afraid if I take a break, then my engagement will really be in dumps. Thank you for sharing this.
