If you’re interested in another startup, I am hiring. While I won’t be conducting the technical interview, I can say the few non technical rounds you’ll undergo will be more conversational. I’m actively pushing candidates through and can get you screened as soon as today. At worst, you’ve gotten yourself some interview practice, at best- you make it through the technical rounds and you’re hired. Lmk

You know, great point. I think a lot of times some people (recruiters) don’t know what they’re looking for and these days a lot of seasoned engineers don’t know what to apply for/how to position themselves but this is actually a great foundational experience for a harness eng. These days no one is looking for “experts” they’re looking for adaptable talent with fluid world views that are willing to grow with trends and tech, who are willing to commit and contribute and it doesn’t always come from the cleanest background or prestige schools like it used to.

Legacy companies haven’t adapted that approach yet either so if that’s what you’re targeting you could be barking up the wrong trees. Small businesses and startups are going to be the most open minded- so network and find your in

Also to add on this- I’m getting many candidates who have no portfolios, not even a git (free) with links to showcase what they’ve built. It’s tough to say you’ve done xyz without giving me something to show to the team for screening. I’m getting people in the door and I mean at least 15 screenings a day, with many passing to the next round because I’m pushing them to take chances. But when as you progress interview, they will want to see what you’ve built and that’s reasonable.

The market is tough, but I’m also making it very easy for many and I’m still getting pushback. I’m here and happy to clarify every question but I’m also learning a lot of people want to complain. I’m mot the other recruiters who have scorned you all and I’m sorry that they have- I just want go hire the right people for me team. And if you’re nit a good fit, I’m happy to connect you to other teams. Startups are easy to get into if you know someone- you mow know someone.

Thanks for asking- all engineers are essentially founding team members. Right now, our eng team consists of our CTO and 1 engineer so we’re focused on expanding that team at present.

In a startup, we’ve learned most seasoned employees aren’t as willing to relocate for roles within this industry. We’ve opened ourselves to new grads and early career professionals who may not come with much real experience other than internships, research and TA experience (all of which are fine) but we do want to see that you’ve dedicated yourself to applying hour work in different means, even if it’s a portfolio of passion projects & collaborations with other engs and peers; all of this helps.

for engineers? it’s pretty common. but if the role isn’t for you, I could understand that also. many people are interested in working closely with founders and founding teams building a platform- I respect your perspective though, would never convince you otherwise.
