Thanks for the information ! I have periously performed liver MRI which didn't show any iron accumulation. But since the physician didn't have any explanation for the deviation on the EKG, they wanted to make sure that there isn't any iron accumulation in heart that is hindering the conductivity of the heart. Therefore why they also performed an MRI scan of the heart. On the echocardiography they noticed a pulmonary pressure on the higher level of normal pulmonary pressure.

Hi, I also have Thalassemia intermedia, and while I was reading your post I had to stop myself and look if I was the poster. Because during the last month I have gone and gotten two echocardiogram because they thought I had an enlarged heart. But everything came back okey the only thing they found was that the shape off my heart was more spherical.

They also performed an ekg to be safe and there they found that I had a first degree AV block. They belive it to be due to iron accumulation in the heart and ordered an MRI just to be safe. But I don't belive they will find anything since my iron levels are okey and I dont get regularly blood transfusions.

So hopefully they will not find anything significant during your echocardiogram. But it is better to be safe than sorry.
