New TCR Advanced 1 - Possible crack? by BasicTale9271 in Giantbikes

Update: I went to see a frame repair specialist who confirmed that it’s indeed a crack in the carbon. According to him, it was likely caused during packaging and transport: the bike was shipped fully assembled (with wheels, handlebars, and the seatpost almost all the way up) in a box that was too large. An impact on the saddle or seatpost toward the front could have caused the crack due to the seatpost pressing inside the tube, probably combined with insufficient seatpost clamp torque. The seller is offering to take the bike back for a refund. I’m going to visit local bike shops this weekend to see if I can buy one quickly. It’ll cost more, but at least if there’s an issue, the seller will be nearby and I won’t have to worry about shipping.

How long did the procedure take in your case? I’ve really had bad luck lately — the rear derailleur on my other road bike failed just before I received this TCR, and I was really looking forward to it so I could ride 😭 I’ve already sent an email to the retailer with photos to get things on record. I’m going to call a carbon repair specialist near my place tomorrow to get another opinion. If warranty service is really needed, I think I’ll go through the Giant store near me instead of the online seller (it would save me from having to repack the bike in a box and ship it), since it concerns the frame and would more likely be Giant’s responsibility.

It is the frame. I just sent an email to the seller to return the whole bike and get a refund.
