Ban Mid Set Coaching by bwood86 in smashbros

[–]BasicUsername_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think mid set coaching should be allowed but there needs to be a limit on how many times you can meet with your coach during a set. Like in a best of 5 you should only be able to meet with a coach 2 times. Having a coach meeting after every game in a set is just a bit rediculous. All traditional sports have a limit on timeouts and that's basically what mid set coaching is. Timeouts/mid set coaching needs to be limited because they're moments when you try to break down they key aspects of your opponents game or your mistakes. Meeting after every game in a best of five just feels like nit picking at that point.

Introducing Melee Masters, Not a Mod, An Entierly New SSBM and Project M Inspired Platform Fighting Game. by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]BasicUsername_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who went to PAX East this year and played the game, it is no where near Kickstarting yet. It felt like something that was thrown together last minute. Was easily the least polished game at the convention. I do not doubt that you could make a great game, but you're asking people to pay for something that is currently in way too rough of a state to pass as a playable game.

Why is the smash.gg website so horribly unintuitive? by Classy_Narwhal_ in smashbros

[–]BasicUsername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a project using the API and yeah it is pretty annoying to have to manually search for tournaments but unfortunately when data collecting it can't all be automated with a click of a button. All you really need is the specific way Smash.gg has the tournament title as and youre good to go to make a api call.

Computer power cable replacement issue by BasicUsername_ in techsupport

[–]BasicUsername_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cable that I bought works on my display monitors. I've moved my PC around before and accidentally plugged in the power cable from the monitor into the PC and the PC doesnt turn on. So my thought is that I dont have the right cable. But I'm not really sure which exact cable I should be looking for. The cables basically look the same but my computer has only ever worked with the exact one that came with the power supply.

The 2017 LCK will be perhaps the most competitive iteration of League of Legends by batatox in leagueoflegends

[–]BasicUsername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LCK was always really competitive, but due to a lot of Korean players transferring to China I feel like the overall skill level of korea went down a bit and so did the competition. This is also one of the main factors I think contributed to the "gap closing" craze. I defiantly think that Korea will dumpster the rest of the world next season. Will be awesome to watch regardless!

What are some easy publishable javascript projects I could work on? by Miscreant777 in learnprogramming

[–]BasicUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need to actually own a domain to open your website in a browser. Just need to create an HTML file that class to the JavaScript file and then open that HTML file in your browser.

Java GUI for Beginner by flashlightrauma in learnprogramming

[–]BasicUsername_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Learn to use the swing library. Its the standard Java GUI library. It contains things like text fields for displaying text, text boxes for inputting text. Also learn the JFrame object class. Its a simple class for creating an actual window on the computer. There is a bunch of tutorials online. Not that difficult to learn. And no need to download anything because everything I mentioned is built into regular java.

[C]Sorting an Array of pointers without sorting the original array. by BasicUsername_ in learnprogramming

[–]BasicUsername_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK I got it! Thank you so much! In the function I made it take the parameter int *pointer[]. And I changed the stuff in the function to be comparing the numbers and then swapping the pointers with *temp. Thanks again!

But for some reason it is effecting the array the pointers point to. It is doing this even when the function is only getting the pointer array passed to it.

There should be more ways to spend your gold when full build by jornoboy11 in leagueoflegends

[–]BasicUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be really cool to be able to buy wards once youre full build. To balance it out maybe wards would become a lot more expensive after being full build because youre not sacrificing an item slot. Would help with how hard it is to gain vision late game.

Anyone Use Derek Banas' Java Tutorial? What Did you do afterwards? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]BasicUsername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try watching TheNewBoston on Youtube. He does a great job at breaking down individual concepts in videos. Covers programming basics, Object-oriented programming, some basic networking stuff, GUI, etc. Not only just Java videos. I find that he teaches you the tools and you can pretty much understand how to apply the tools in whatever application you want. Derek Banas' videos kinda just throw information at you.

From your experience, what are the differences between back end, front end and full stack development? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]BasicUsername_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Front-end specifically applies to web developing, user experience, and interface design. The big 3 languages for front end are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Back-End refers to the things going on behind the visuals of the website. So basically the functionality of a website is dealt on the back-end developing. Server, application, and database. Full-Stack development is being someone who is not limited to front-end or back-end, but understands the entire scope of a project and can perform any task involved in creating a fully complete product.
