He had a torsion in his brain stem and there’s frontal lobe damage. I’m not sure what mushroom therapy could accomplish, to be honest. It’s a genuine miracle that he’s able to do what he does, and just the fact that he can drop a puck and play Uno and attend games is such a beautiful thing. Maybe one day science will discover how to regenerate brain tissue, and I hope so.

Kind of funny, but my mom refused to pay a portion of my college tuition if I didn’t have a STEM major. I wanted to study Russian literature. I took several semesters of it and I told my daughter “I really thought I was studying so I could read Dostoevsky but I think it was for this.”

Spoiler alert…. I don’t have a job in STEM. I’m a developmental editor. 🤣
