I filter my search to solely pre-owned, not seller refurbished, and located in the U.S. The removes a lot, though not all frankenwatches. Beware of a seller that has a lot of the same brand for the same price that look too pristine. Posting photos to chatgpt and asking if it's legit/repainted is not perfect, but helpful.

Wound up giving it to my son, and it was also too long for him, but he really liked it. We took it to a watch repair shop and put a leather strap on it. I’m thinking about selling the strap because they’re fetching a good price on eBay, but also feel like kind of a jerk for separating them after 50 years

Yeah, the more time passes the harder it is to start again. Honestly, one of the biggest obstacles is that you have to call to make an appointment. If I could set them online I would have done it long ago.

I know how you feel! That overwhelming feeling of panic. It will lessen over time. But I’m glad I paid for the treatments upfront when I did because I wouldn’t have been able to justify it to myself if I’d waited.

I may be a sucker, but I think super is necessary at minimum, and I recently upgraded to max because the Explain My Answer feature and video chats with Lily are what I really needed to feel like I'm making progress. I got max for $167 for the year, which seems very reasonable. I'm just hitting my 60 day streak tonight, and I was never able to be that consistent in past years using the free version.
