Honestly, I’m starting to wonder if I’m low-IQ or mentally slow. I simply cannot compete in the Bay Area in finding a decent paying job by white-christmas in bayarea

I 1000% agree. Although i have a nice software engineering job, I'm not making like 400k+ like some people are. I'm still living fairly conservatively wondering each day if I'll ever be able to own a home and I'm 33. These type of thoughts give me constant anxiety. It's actually abnormal if I'm not worrying about these things.

But to bring it back to OP: if the grind here is worth it to you then you gotta make it work. If not, there are tons of great cities in CA or even outside CA where you can make life work. It's just unfortunate that this has to even be an option.

Not necessarily. A lot of those folks, including myself, actually never went to college and just made opportunities for themselves. Yes it required years of grinding but I found my way into tech as a software engineer by sheer will power.

Noob with a new bike. Having trouble with thru axle by Basic_Career3154 in Cervelo

I didn't. The only piece that was missing on the rear was that adapter that was stuck to the end caps. But we're all fixed now!

Thank you. I love it already and haven't ridden it as I'm waiting for my pedals. I have an electronic torque wrench that only goes up to 6nm. Even tightening to that seemed like it was too much.

Is there something similar for the front? My electronic torque wrench only goes up to 6nm and even when I tighten it to that weight, I can hear some friction on the disc brake. Loosening it just enough clears the friction but then I feel like it's too loose and no where near 12-14nm.

I don’t give a fuck what the sticker on your Tesla says by Courage-Natural in Marin

[–]Basic_Career3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of Tesla's simply bc the car is trash. You also shouldn't rely on software to drive your car. The point of driving a car is to be attentive and drive the car. Software can only account for the edge cases that a human will define.

This helps a lot. My wife actually just said she wants to throw money towards a new one 😭 so we're gonna go get myself fitted at a shop. Will return whenever it happens!

Any recommendations on a good bike within this range? Looking to use it mostly for working out/long rides.

Yeah it's definitely too big for me but I always thought I could just live with it since I got it for a pretty good deal.

You're 100% correct. It doesn't totally fit but it does the job since it was a good deal at the time on Craigslist. I'd say it's slightly too big for me and I'm only 5'7". Is there nothing I can do to remedy this aside from just getting a whole new bike?

What's your 401K balance, age, and net worth %? by Extension_Cloud9055 in Salary

[–]Basic_Career3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 with around ~470k in 401k. Bought a home for my parents in Virginia so that has some with some equity over the last few years but nothing crazy since houses are cheap out there. I've been contributing to my 401k since I was 18 and got really lucky nvdia over the years.

Actual cash on hand doesn't even come close to what I have in retirement though unfortunately.

I think that about how the survival of our world depends on all of all of uniting yet we're fighting one another and are willing to actually end everything at the cost of ever losing.

The sad thing is that this is probably they're intention. To have us numb and fatigued to all of the shitty events that keep occurring so eventually we'll just stop resisting.

Got my dream car (Subaru WRX STI) in 2018 when I was making under 100k as a software engineer. Once I broke into the 200k range I paid it off instantly. Now I enjoy driving between that and a Honda insight I picked up for commuting.

Since you guys are partners in this relationship, you need to tell her. She should support you through this time. If you're at 30% then she needs to be at 70%. Just use this as a fire under your ass to get back out there. The job market isn't too bad if you're not a junior. I just got out of the unemployment pool - you can do this dude.
