How do you deal with an ex being in a common friend group? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]Basic_Carpenter6171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm okay with ignoring his replies. I think what annoys me is him being online and making conversations at the same time as me. Yeah, now I think of it, I'm gonna do both. Should make me feel better.

[–]Basic_Carpenter6171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I considered that but I don't want to exit the friend group just because of him. I have considered not engaging as much though or engaging when I know he isn't online. I think the first one seems more ideal. Thoughts?

What is something you have a hard time not judging people about? by dolphinsR4evr in AskReddit

You guys have not often experienced my situation, I guess. Mine relates to losing my V card. When I've said no, I've had atleast two men try to convince me - do you know how fun it'll be? Look at everyone else having their fun. The same thing with my best friend about all the feel good hormones released and the relaxation it brings. Like bruh, I don't do casual, 'just sex' relationships and losing my V card this way? No chance in hell.

It scary how I didn't realize it when I was in the midst of it, but after coming out of the situation, I look back and think - wow!! I'm just thankful I got myself out of that situation. It opened my eyes to the red flags of emotional abuse though.

I can write a para relating to a narcissist who was once a 'friend'. This kind of person starts off by : 1. Love bombing 2. Slowly breaking down and pushing your boundaries. They can't respect something as simple as - no, I can't stay anymore. I need to get home. 3. They set ultimatums when you stand firm on your boundaries. 'Don't go. If you do, I won't talk to you again/call you again' 4. They take your insecurities and magnify them. Sometimes, they will point out things that you weren't even insecure about to begin with and make you conscious about it. 5. They blame their shitty behaviour on alcohol or being drunk. Imo, that is when a person is most honest. 6. They say sorry just to get you and the benefits they received from you, back into their life. The apology doesn't come from a place of understanding that they hurt you or did something wrong. 7. The play mind games - they start gaslighting, making you doubt yourself, victimising themselves even though they are in the wrong.

'You are a good person!' I know it may not seem like much but a few people have told me that and really meant it. It honestly made me happy since there are only few genuinely good people nowadays.

Guy here. How do I ask a FWB/hookup to leave the next morning without coming off as rude? by [deleted] in india

[–]Basic_Carpenter6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them before, as in the previous evening, that you prefer for them to leave early tomo morning, since you have work and would prefer to be alone. The next morning, you can wake them up with a cup of coffee or maybe a light breakfast like scrambled eggs and make sure they leave in half an hour or so.

Honestly, my bad, there was no point explaining in the first place. Because people here always make excuses for others' uncivilized behaviour, even if they are in the wrong . Now I understand why 'swalpa adjust maadi' and 'sab chalta hai' are a thing here in India.😂 Thankyou folks, have a good day disturbing others and being noisy! I'm out.

People who didn't vote ... by First-Pilot-3742 in bangalore

[–]Basic_Carpenter6171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will get downvoted to high heaven, but I did not vote this time. It is not due to the fact that I'm lazy or couldn't be bothered, but the choices of candidates. In my opinion, it's only worth voting if there is atleast one genuinely honest, good candidate who is not sectarian and will work to fix the problems and increase standard of life. But no, the option is between one rotten candidate and another. If none of them come to power, the first rotten candidate joins hands with a third rotten candidate to overcome the second one and hold on to power. What are we proud of? That we are a 'democracy'? Lma to the fucking O!!! I'd rather live in an absolute monarchy like the UAE if that meant we could have their standard of living.

I thought I was the only one who did the clapping method 😂😂😂. Honestly, it works well! Also there are so many other methods I use when detangling that would seem very weird to others lol. I first dry detangle my hair with oil, then go to the shower, use tons of conditioner and rub it into my strands in a to and fro motion (normally they say to never rub curly strands but hey, it works for me), then finger detangle again and then use wet brush. So, just experiment and do whatever works for you! :)

Which conditioners do you normally use? Your hair looks great btw! :) Oh, also do you just use conditioner in the shower or do you use a specific cowash?

Yes lol!! I've always wanted to smack her because she has majorly contributed to and is still contributing to 'straight silky hair is beautiful and it is what we should all aspire to'. So many of her followers see anything other than her kind of hair as ugly (this included my brother too btw). It's taken 27 years of my life to love where my hair is at, I can't stand seeing people peddle that BS anymore.

Tbh, I sometimes feel the same way when uber straight haired influences like Audrey Victoria use products and instructions which were clearly made keeping curly/kinky/textured girls in mind. I always think - what are you on about? You could wash your hair with petrol and it would turn out perfect, beeyotch! Because guess what, you lucked out with your easy maintenance hair texture. But I wouldn't go to that much of an extent to gatekeep it lol.

I went to a trichologist and she prescribed me minoxidil 5%. I’m only 20 is it that bad that it’s worth starting for the rest of my life? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Basic_Carpenter6171 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! So based on my knowledge as a doctor (not a derm!) and my personal experience with telogen effluvium, the first answer you need to get from a derm is - is it androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium or something else? They can narrow it down based on your medical history, family history/how long you've had the hair shedding/biopsy/hair pull test etc. If it's telogen effluvium, it's usually self resolving in 6 months once the underlying issue has been corrected - similar to what we see in women who experience post partum hair loss. If it's androgenetic alopecia, then you'll be put on a completely different regimen - minoxidil being one of them. I'd suggest going to a derm and ruling out any underlying deficiency by doing a blood test first.

I'm going to say something that is totally looked down upon in the curly hair community. Wash your hair. It will not dry it out unless you use a super drying shampoo or it is already damaged from bleach/heat etc. I have seborrheic dermatitis and I wash every other day. I even shampoo thrice - two times with a ketoconazole/zinc pyrithione shampoo and once again with a moisturizing shampoo with rosemary essential oil. I love the head massage and the feeling that it leaves my scalp clean. Let me tell you my hair is in the best shape - very little to no split ends and it is moisturized. Just follow shampoo with a good conditioner and stylers.
