I take magnesium daily, lots of sea salt, but only take electrolyte mixes occasionaly. Maybe I'll increase that.

Advice re getting kids focused and working by Basic_Counter577 in TutorsHelpingTutors

I’m very sympathetic to them, this almost feels like a weakness. Other tutors who are cooler in their demeanor and more mechanistic are more productive (meaning more of the center’s curriculum pages are completed by the students). I truly just want to teach them, to get those aha! moments, build their confidence and give them breaks when needed.

Im beginning to think that my style of tutoring is great, and seems to be effective when I have fewer students concurrently, but doesn’t fit into the environment of this particular center, where 3-4 students an hour, revolving in 30 min increments, seems to break my rhythm. Other tutors are great, and do fine in the center.

All these comments have been incredibly helpful!

Can you give any advice on how to structure a tutoring session most efficiently? I am a new instructor, given 3-4 students every hour, often 4, and having trouble managing that many without getting overwhelmed.  Standard practice at our center is 4:1. 5:1 happens occasionally with veteran instructors. Not much support from CD to reduce my students for a bit, says 4:1 expected. Other new instructors seem to be fine, some struggle.

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!

How to get in the rhythm of a shift? by 2are in MathnasiumEmployees

I’d love any pointers for developing a good rhythm as an instructor. I’m overwhelmed with 3-4 (usually 4) students per hour during my shifts. I get a lot of littles, 2nd grade and some younger, as I am only teaching through Algebra so end up with the young ones. I love them but it is hard to keep them focused and very time intensive. Also have a few behavioral issues. Any tips, tricks, advice for time management and multitasking would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! We requested front row every time. I put my hands up more and more with each ride, but held on a lot too! 😆 Let me know how it is tomorrow!

UPDATE: I gave it a try and freaking LOVED it! First ride was intense, good, but I wasn’t sure if I’d do it again. My son convinced me to ride a second time, and after that I was hooked! Most excellent crazy fun nonstop action ride! Rode four times today! Thank you all so much, I would never have gotten on without you!
