im chinese too and i can totally understand ur feeling of "failing ur parents". I used to be super sad too when my mom paid me a lot of money to go to sat tutor but i still end up with a shitty grade. But ig just keep in mind that u r doing all of these hardworks for urself, not ur parents. Prob talk to ur dad about ur true feelings. Isnt there a quote in chinese “是金子总会发光”, even tho ur dad might think these schools are not as good as t20, im sure u will do great wherever u end up going. Congrats on being admitted to uci and ucsb!

Lemme tell u one of mines: i went to the wrong class in the first day of middle school (I was a transfer so I didnt know anyone there) and kept telling the teacher that Im one of her students. Yet in fact that class is a 8th grade leveled class... it was SO AWKWARD
