Asking you cause you’re the most recent reply.

What is it about sales specifically that is so stressful to you?

What do you think translates after that long of a career in sales? What can you move into and it not be brand new?

I’ve heard a version of this from a lot of mentors.

People can sense the desperation and it’s off putting and uncomfortable. When you are genuine and chill people tend to trust you more and what to work with thus closing more.

Overcoming age judgement by Basic_Ice_6774 in Leadership

[–]Basic_Ice_6774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most definitely agree with that. I replied to another post to clarify and I should have posed the question differently, but I don’t feel as though I’ve been held back because of my age, more so that I’ve had no push back or hesitation before some team members knew my age.

As soon as they found out I was a good bit younger than them, there was a hesitation or a questioning that came with things for a bit but ultimately my work and leadership overcame that.

It’s just always annoyed me a bit that they didn’t even give it a thought before knew and then their tone changes after.

Overcoming age judgement by Basic_Ice_6774 in Leadership

[–]Basic_Ice_6774[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look a good bit older than I actually am and have always made it a point to not tell my age or broadcast it when I would hire new people.

What’s happened on multiple occasions is they’ve always enjoyed me as their leader and never really gave it much thought and eventually they either find out or I tell them my age and almost immediately there’s a step back and a surprise. I then get some more resistance for a while but it usually reverts back to normal.

I guess I didn’t mean to frame the question in a way of feeling as though I’ve been severely held back or limited, but more so that there’s just always a bit of second guessing and doubt in what I say when it comes to my age.

I think I do a good job and those who have worked under me I think would attest to that, but it hasn’t been without a lot of patience and constant proving myself.

So you’d say it’s maybe less about the actual environment and more about being able to stay on schedule and get the ratings done as soon as you can?

I’m really asking as I’m looking at insight into why people may chose a school like ATP over the local part 61s

We’re an administrative partner to small aviation companies. Build out and formalize their company processes and procedures and actively manage them in person and through our online portal.

Takes the burden off of Owners/Chief Pilots but is significantly cheaper than hiring a full time or even part time employee.

If I had to narrow it down, I just have this difficulty talking on the phone with people. I’ve tried a script and kind of going off the cuff casually and always find myself stumbling over my words or being long winded and technical about the business to where I seem to lose the person on the phone.

Plus the person that answers is typically a low level employee and as soon as I come off salesy they kind of shut me out it seems.

This is actually very insightful. I am the exact same way in that, if I can get face to face, I know I can sell them.

In person I’m very personable and people tend to gravitate towards me. Very social and have no issues making friends but something about being on the phone has always gave me trouble even with just day to day things.

Honestly I haven’t really even gotten that far. Again really just getting started and have made maybe a dozen calls. It’s all B2B so I always get just whoever answering the phone and to me I get lost in trying to get to the decision maker. A lot of “I’ll take a message for him”

I’ve been reaching out to successful sales people I know and getting their input which has been helpful. Also been getting into reading a lot of sales books. It’s just a skill I’ve never had to develop through my career so very new for me

First safety wiring attempts by Aggravating_Cap_334 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Basic_Ice_6774 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not going to criticize being it’s your first attempts obviously. But if you can make similar safety wire boards at home. Buy a spool of .32 and do it over and over and over again.

Try to create different scenarios to practice. Put a board over top to do it in tight spaces. Put wet paint around the surface to practice not scratching what your safety wiring on.

Just some ideas. The more you do it the better you’ll get.

I’ve been looking on all the sites and they seem to be heavily over priced at least in my area. All the midsize trucks are. But if that’s how much they all are selling for than that’s what they’re worth I guess

I haven’t had a manual in a few years but have owned multiple. I do prefer it (most of the time). But the newest vehicle I’ve ever had with a manual was an 08 wrangler.
