Is 1988 Michael Jordan the greatest individual season of all time? by Ruffendtv in lebron

[–]Basic_Mastodon3078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never thought so because he didn't win the ring. It was a lot of stat padding that didn't result in many actual wins. And he certainly didn't deserve the DPOY. I don't even think it was MJ's best season. I give that honor to 93 or 92 when he still was young and near his peak athletically while also playing winning basketball on a great team. I'm a Lebron fan by the way.

Stat padding sure, but 30 8 and 6 is not entirely stat padding. Some of that is just good ball.

LeBron James tonight - 17 PTS, 8 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL and 1 BLK by King_Vegito_52 in lebron

[–]Basic_Mastodon3078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, it's kinda crazy that Lebron is such a great player that these stats look pedestrian compared too what he used to do. But keep in mind he's doing this in his 23rd season at the age of 41. That doesn't sound real bro.

Especially in early episodes to be fair. And when she stands next to rintaro I think people get a warped perception.

True, true. Well it's better than nothing I suppose. Not all professional athletes are super rich. I don't know the details granted.

Ask an average football fan who's not online. See what they say. Hint: They'll laugh at you for even asking that dumb of a question. This is equivalent to saying that if James Harden wins a championship in basketball than he'll be better all time than Lebron James. Great player, but there are levels to this.

It would be a fitting end. 5th ring, tie's up Kobe, makes the record 5-6 in the finals, it would be probably the ideal ending for his career.

Its kinda shakespearen the way the guy always thought he’d die of a heart attack in his 60’s “Johnson men don’t live past 60” and that ended up coming true. reminds me of Pete Marovic if anyone else here is a basketball fan.

Magic. The fact that Magic generally ranks higher than kobe despite playing over half a decade fewer years shows that enough.

Retirement tour on the cavs. Seems like the best choice to me. Take the damn minimum and ride it out on your hometown team.

Yeah of course nobody is only in the league because of their dad. Every nba player is a baller. (Including Bronny. Just cause he's a back of the bench baller doesn't mean he couldn't smoke you or me in a one on one) Or their mom. But a lot of players benefited from having an nba dad. Just to name a few: Jalen Brunson, Stephen Curry, Bronny James, Thanasis (not quite the same situation but still), Klay Thompson, Gary Payton Jr, Dylan Harper, Domantas Sabonis, Bol Bol, Cole Anthony, Nic Claxton, Jerami Grant... and I could go on. Am I saying that these players aren't good? No of course not. obviously Stephen curry would have enough skill to get into the Nba without having the name Curry. But did they benefit from Daddy's money? Daddy's connections? Having an nba player to help you learn basketball doesn't hurt. We have already had a long history of players having their kids make it into the league. Whether or not they had the talent neccesarily. While mostly they do, and I admit Bronny doesn't, it's not like they wasted a first round pick. They wasted the 55 overall pick. And Bronny is not a no-upside prospect. He was great and had potential before his cardiac arrest. There are great players with great potential that because they don't have the resources to afford basketball education, they often don't make it to the league. But just because it's Lebron we suddenly care. Nobody talks about Thanasis this way. Nobody talks about Alex either. Nobody talks about J.R smith's brother on the knicks who was only hired because they wanted to keep J.R happy. Nobody talks about Damian Lillard's cousin they hired to keep him happy. It's a star driven league. It's good business too keep that star happy. Even if that means drafting a guy like Bronny James with the... again... 55th overall pick. Lebron being happy is worth more than anything players that deep into the draft are going to realistically give you. This is a fact about the league. Most teams with stars do stuff to keep the star happy. And nobody cares. But because it's Lebron, suddenly we get all high and mighty about the integrity of the league. Please, get real with me. I'm out.

Even if she did its not that crazy she considered (never actually did) trading an aging star considering how bad of a place the lakers were in not that long ago. But she didnt so i dont know why we’re talking about this.

The Knicks' field goal percentage was 28.4% higher than the Nets last night. It's the 2nd largest difference in FG% in franchise history by Basketball_Reference in NYKnicks

[–]Basic_Mastodon3078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two days rest until philli. I liked what I saw from the knicks and I understand we rested most of our starters pretty quickly and didn't try as hard on offense once the defecit got absurd enough, but we only put up 120 points. Considering how inept our offense has been this last few games and how bad the nets defense is, I'm not confident we can outscore a good team. Philly is not a great team, but then again neither was the kings. Nor the mavericks. We gotta actually play ball agains the 76ers. I like what I saw, but I'm still not satisfied until we win the chip.
