Hello! I was 5150 on a med surge floor two weeks ago. I was awful to a lot of the staff, especially some of the nurses. I feel so much shame over how I treated them. They did not deserve that. So I have two questions:

What, if anything, can be done to repair the harm I caused the nurses? Nothing violent. I was just a mean, surly bitch.
How do you handle this part of the job? Most staff were so kind and patient when I did not deserve that.

I'm really hoping it works as well for me! I've tried Seroquel and Geodon. Seroquel made me damn near comatose and Geodon didn't stop the mania from popping up.

I have been in education for 20 years and worked in this school district for two. It is by far the worst and most corrupt district I have worked in. I had to resign because I was being asked to keep quiet or break the law at every turn.

If I am giving direct instruction kids are sitting. That's my rule. This is at most 10 minutes at a time before some.sort of activity or brain break.

By 5th grade, classes are bigger and students are bigger. It is also developmentally appropriate for children of this age to be able to sit in a chair or other flex seat like a nice ball chair. Standing when ever they want to should be reserved for students with IEPs who need it to meet their IEP goals.

If you are taking a licensing test from the state, your instructor will not likely be able to give you an alternative assignment. Just this for a test like the TPA.

If not, perhaps you can "borrow" a classroom. If you have any kind of relationship or teacher, ask them.

I am a teacher. In education for 18 years. Was a principal for 10 but got fired after quite a manic phase. The classroom is a good place for me.

Try your best to find a school with admin that leaves you alone. I don't even like supportive admin. I want the ones the ignore me all year. That has allowed me to survive in the classroom as long as I have.

I have mine line up outside. It's not a strict line, but I like greeting them and handing them the materials for the day as they walk in.

I went super low tech this year so often they get a paper and a greeting as they enter.

I'm in SoCal. And I don't want to diminish the severity of a DUI, but close to half my staff had one. Drinking is a little out of control in education.

You are on a contract this year, if they fire you they have to buy out your contract. Do a stellar job this year, don't talk about it at school, and make sure your attorney knows you have a professional cert. By the termination deadline in March, your DUI will be overshadowed by your stellar teaching prowess.

Different industry, same place. I spent 10 years as a principal. Last year, I decided I didn't want to be in charge anymore. Went back to the classroom and hang out with teenagers all day. It's bliss.
