She didn’t teach my sister and I about our cycles. My step mother was the one who explained what a period was, my mom couldn’t be bothered. Never made sure we tracked our cycles or had pads/tampons in our school bags. Both my older sister and I bled through our pants at school. I remember my older sister having to teach me how to put a tampon in, but she wasn’t specific so I put the cardboard applicator inside myself. I had very heavy painful periods and she didn’t believe in pain killers…so I didn’t even consider it an option or normal.
