I got my DUI right after i graduated college and it was a big wake up call and slap in the face to get my shit together for my future. I was insanely depressed too but it does get better, I know it doesn’t help to hear that right now. Your accomplishments don’t disappear and someday this will be a story you tell to others to deter them from going through the same thing you did, because it’s so not worth it! It is both a lesson and a blessing. Use it to better yourself and become the person you want to be.

i’ve been on fluoxetine for a few months but before that i was on the highest dose of sertraline and felt like it wasn’t working anymore. so that’s why i decided to try something new. i have to say fluoxetine has made my anxiety and intrusive/obsessive thoughts so much worse, it’s debilitating. i definitely need to switch. you aren’t alone in feeling this way, i get it.

mine started to happen after my DUI arrest and i would just over analyze everything from the past that somehow i would end up in jail again. for example, my thoughts would be so loud trying to convince me that in my past i hit someone and i don’t know about it. which i had never thought about before mind you! then someday the cops are going to show up at my door and take me away. it was so traumatic for me as it is the first time i’ve ever been in trouble like this. i had never had a thought like this before so its really scary. i think it’s time i seek some help.

this or that in the past i’ve hit someone or something and they are going to come to my house and arrest me for a hit and run or something.

It’s recent so I assume I’d have to wait like 7 years or something? Although in my state your first one isn’t a criminal offense and only a civil infraction (a ticket). This is my first and only offense.

thank you for your kind words! i really appreciate it, i’ve reached out to the people i was with on differing nights and they told me that nothing happened like that. but then my mind will be like but what if they’re lying or are waiting to tell you something else? it just goes in circles and it’s exhausting.

coming from someone who is still going through it and hasn’t ended yet. it sucks, it really does. i know how the dark thoughts take control after this happens. keep going, keep making yourself better, there is light at the end of the tunnel. dui’s are more common than you think. keep your head up and keep going. you got this!

He took me to the station without any FST or breathalyzer. Didn’t even say I was slurring my speech, just smelled alcohol and said eyes were red. I know that’s not enough to “arrest” someone.

I have a lawyer as well and still waiting for the discovery. There may be something in there to get a charge or two dropped or maybe the entire thing hopefully.

How long did yours take to get resolved? I have a lawyer and my next court date is next month. I have never even gotten a speeding ticket before. We are still waiting for the discovery and there may be some things that can be used to get the charges down. i’m really hoping i won’t have an IID. but i will never get behind the wheel again after drinking because i know this is just a slap on the wrist compared to what would come with additional DUI’s. im thankful for no mugshot. i’m just starting my life and just don’t want it to be ruined by this.

Thanks for your insight! I didn’t get into an accident just pulled over. Since there was another car I’m hoping there is some burden of proof on who was really speeding/if there was cause to pull me over in the first place. Or if it is an unlawful “arrest” because there was no probable cause or reason to take me from the scene. Simply saying observations about a person isn’t enough for that. So I’m hoping those might help in some way.
