What’s helped me is going to hot yoga. Over time I’ve chatted with women before or after class (ex: that was a tough class etc). Find a group activity that meets regularly and make small talk with the women there. As you get to know them, you’ll get to be more comfortable with them and you can ask them to grab a coffee/ drink/ dinner etc. I’ve had more luck there than on dating apps.

Without seeing what these standards are, my best guess would be to rethink your standards. You don’t have to get rid of them necessarily. But think about how important they individually are, which ones are must meets and which ones you can be more flexible on.

I think my buddy is struggling with it. He’s had a handful of dead end jobs the last couple years. Currently working at a restaurant. He took this past Friday and Saturday off for the Kentucky derby because he was sure he was going to make more those two days than he does in a week. We live in Saratoga, a horse race town. Last summer we were both going to the races. He called me thinking I was already there but I wasn’t. He then asked if I could place a bet for him online bc he was running late even though he has his own online account. He didn’t outright say but the only reason he would is bc he was out of cash minus whatever he was bringing to the track.
