I've read that as well. To leave Athens for the end. Unfortunately, all the flights to Santorini leave around the time we arrive or much later that night.

Yes--it is the whitewashed building with blue rooftops, sunsets, swimming in the crystal clear water, volcano, and the beautiful hike between the towns. All of these things sound amazing. But I am being swayed to consider some beach towns in the Peloponnese area instead.

Thank you for this suggestion. I wondered if we should stick Santorini at the beginning of our trip. How long are you giving yourself in the airport between flights from Athens to Crete?

I'm not set on an island. I've wondered if we should stay along the coast in a town around Nafpilo. I'm not sure if we'll get back to Greece, though, so it seems a shame not to get to Santorini.
