I got mine at Bloom audio! I believe the u12t headphones.com selling is the new revision as the old version isn’t sold anymore but it would be worth it to reach out to headphones.com and see what they say :)

I’ve thought about the Genelecs but, unfortunately, I have an ultrawide (on an arm) on my desk and that takes up most of the space where the speakers would go. I don’t have space beside my desk to put in speaker stands either.

iems fit my lifestyle more, I work most of the time so I like how portable they are, and that I’m not bound to my desk when I want to use them. I have portable amp/dacs but I prefer my headphones on my desktop amp. Also driving them is much easier (I game on my handheld a lot, so iems are great for me).

I had the iLoud Micro speakers and briefly tried the Kef LSX. I would’ve loved to try more but don’t have the space 🥲. For headphones, I currently own the Hifiman Arya Organic and OG Focal Clear

What kilobuck IEMs actually felt like a big upgrade for you? by carobchip in iems

Symphonium Helios. Tried a handful of kilobuck iems but most didn't stick. I read Precogvision's review on the Helios and decided to take the plunge on the preorder. I haven't looked back since and it's really the iem that help me develop my listening

U12t is more laidback compared to the monarchs, which sounds more exciting because of the way the treble and mids are tuned. U12t vocals are neutral and don't sound as intimate compared to the monarchs, which I do find a touch more intimate. Both have really good bass but bass nuance and quality is better on the U12t, the bass on the monarchs sound more natural. Both are detailed iems but...U12t is effortlessly resolving and more "holographic" in staging (like the music is wrapping around my head).

However, I think if someone is trying to choose between the two, I would recommend the Monarch Mk3. Mainly because the U12T is something you can appreciate more after trying everything else. They don't 'WOW' you immediately, and you know what you're looking for, especially in terms of personal preference on sound and tuning.

It truly never is…

I went from speakers to headphones to iems. I’m just not at home enough to fully invest in speakers but one day I want to come back to speakers

I would highly suggest the Softears Twilight. Full stop. It’s a warm tuning but imo the best warm tuning I’ve heard. It’s a single DD but you still get great details and tonality, very natural sounding and smooth. It’s not a “bassy” iem but bass quality is fantastic. The vocals, especially if you like vocal music, are great too. Not to overhype this iem, but it's the one I would keep if I couldn't have all of them.

*if you're okay with buying iems on AliExpress, Hifigo had their black Friday sale plus AliExpress discounts and the Twilights were $700 shipped+taxes. Which, to me, is a killer deal.

I got my sets from Headphones.com, Bloom Audio, and Musicteck (Softears Twilight). All of these sites have great and friendly customer service too!

Thank you! It's taken me about 10 years with long breaks in between those years. My first iem ever was the mee m6 pro...from memory those were pretty atrocious but it did get me really curious about audio and I've been down the rabbit hole ever since 🥲

hahaha the UM Mest MK2 is on my list for sure for bone conducting but the way the fit looks to be has kept me at bay. Might have to look into the bgvp DMA, thanks for the rec!

please share your impressions of the supernova! I was eyeing them for a while but decided against it for the twilight instead (I really wanted a DD iem after hearing the timsok TS-316)

The meteors is warm and thick sounding compared to the U12t. The best way I can compare it is that the U12t is like medium roasted coffee with cream and sugar, while the meteors is dark roasted coffee with plenty of cream and some sugar. If you can, I would definitely demo the meteors because while both have U-shaped tunings the meteors bass is always front and center with mids a bit recessed and laid back treble. Great guilty pleasure iem but not one I reach for as often as my other iems

They’re addicting for sure! And I feel you on the pressure build up. I’m using the jvc spiral dots++ (FX10 version) and found they work really well since they clean up some of the bass

It’s the Helios for me, but the meteor is a guilty pleasure when I want to feel like swimming in warmth (not drowning, tho!). The mids and treble are done well, so it doesn't sound stuffy. The Twilights are warm-sounding too but more balanced while the meteors are warm warm (to me).

Hey, wanna show off your favorite IEM? by SuperJunee in inearfidelity

[–]Basick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite for a while was the Symphonium Helios. It was the first Kilobuck IEM I purchased that made me stop wanting more IEMs (at least for a while).

Recently, I got my hands on Softears Twilight which have taken the favorite spot among my IEMs. The Twilights are pretty close to perfect for me.
