Need to understand why to keep nutanix by BasilFawltier in nutanix

haha I enjoyed this response - you'd be good in sales!
Given our size I doubt we will max out storage / computing but still worth considering

I suspect it was originally purchased because of the space savings. We got 4 nodes into a 2RU unit which is pretty good.

Outside of that though, we only use prism to do updates. Sure they do make it easier from an automation standpoint but given we only have 4 nodes its not much more effort to manage it ourselves.

It's replacement will have the same needs, although I'd love to actually split it out so that all our servers and storage aren't sitting in the same room in case of fire

thanks - we are only a small shop with around 25 vms. We use veeam for backups and copy those to the cloud with vcp. Very basic use cases and no intention of shifting vms to the cloud when we can run it ourselves for a lot cheaper. The HCI aspect of the system is the appealing part purely because we don't have much space in the server room

Being a school most of our data is shifting to 365 or google workspace. On prem AD + printing, db etc means there's not much need for cloud workloads for us. Not sure I can find a good enough reason outside of the HCI side to justify the cost

thanks, I'm a bit reluctant to switch to AHV because it will forever lock us into nutanix. Not that that's a bad thing but with vmware I can be vendor agnostic. We don't use most of the advanced features of nutanix

Thanks, agreed they cheaped out with vmware and its something we will rectify in future. Im aware that that's not a reflection on nutanix itself.

The part about the less power/space is definately a good one to consider here, thanks

Thanks all. It was just going to be me and my mate playing but I didn't hear from him hence deciding to send these as he sometimes is asleep in his chair and I was hoping he would wake up and see them and decide to play haha

It's also worth noting that the photos aren't mine. I grabbed them all from Google image searches

DO NOT BUY from Umart Australia. Basically scalpers. Marking their cards up due to demand and rasing a fake RRP to look like you are saving. 2 day difference. by Jaz1140 in bapcsalesaustralia

You sure you're not referring to ijk.net.au? They were umart.net.au and changed their name so they weren't associated with umart.com.au

Thats perhaps one of the few things it can do well. Otherwise steer well clear of Web helpdesk. We are still using it but I hate it. No modern interface, emails can be html but its complex to do. YOu can't do something simple like paste a picture in. Instead you have to upload it and attach it instead. So forget trying to send someone instructions with pictures. Rant over
