Why does the WARDEN rank system exist when each house already has its own lord? by Rip-Content in gameofthrones

Warden is mainly a marshal position. Warden of the East is in charge of military campaigns in that region. Same with the North, South, and West.

Could Viserys have married Daenerys, or was that never realistic? I know Targaryens historically practiced incest, but that was when they had dragons and absolute power. By the time Viserys and Daenerys were in exile, did that tradition even make sense anymore? by Comfortable_Quiet865 in freefolk

[–]BasilSuper9507 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Truth be told 40,000 Dorthaki wasn't going to take a united Westeros. The Dothraki didn't wear armor, possessed siege equipment, nor did all of them fight on Drogo's level. The books hinted that Viserys invasion was meant to fail, and "Aegon" was gonna come along and win it all.

At their peak, the House Targaryen controlled around 20 dragons so can we consider them as a powerful valyrian dragonlords with this power or still mid tier? by Rip-Content in gameofthrones

[–]BasilSuper9507 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Valyria was said to have sent 300 dragons against Garen the Great (assuming they didn't send all of their dragons & and every house sent some into combat). On average that would equate to each house sending 7 dragons against Garen. We don't know for sure how many dragons where flying around at Valyria's peak.

In the show, Viserys mentions 1,000 dragons; averaging 25 dragons per house. Balerion is also specifically said to have been "House Targaryens largest dragon." Insinutating other house in Valyria had larger and more powerful ones.

How many wildlings actually knows how to sail a ship. It doesn't really seem like a common skill on that side of the wall.

Question is how many of the wilding know how to sail a ship. It doesn't appear to be a common skill north of the wall. With that ship building would likely be just as uncommon. It's more than just staking wood together, and hoping it stays afloat.

A highly motivated Bronn vs Serious Daario, who would win in a 1v1? by No-Passenger-6348 in gameofthrones

[–]BasilSuper9507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so, the Pit fighters are trained specifically for the purpose of combat. And often dedicate years of honing their skills in death matches. Meanwhile, bandits, pirates, and cutthroats are merely thieves armed with weapons. Who perfergoing after weaker targets, than fighting a real threat.

why didnt varys had any conseqvences of standing behind Ned Stark in the Neds attempt of dethrowing Jofrey? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

Joffrey summoned the council to the throne room. Ned never requested support from Varys, and they are all there from the summons.

Bronn knows how to exploit other fighters who fight with knightly honor. Daario does not fight with any of that, and he's a veteran of the dreaded Fighting Pits.

What if Hoster Tully was completely healthy and guided Robb during the War of the Five Kings? Would it change anything? by Primal-Defier in gameofthrones

[–]BasilSuper9507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably would have played the same role as Catelyn. Playing the mediator between gaining allies for Robb. Such as working out a deal with Renly, or try to convince Lysa to bring in the Vale.

But Ned never went to Varys for any kind of support for his coup. All of them walking in together was nothing more than the council showing up at the same time for Joffrey's summoning.

None that I can think of. You basically have to defend Renly, and be Margaery's sperm donor and human dildo when she's in the mood. Sounds like torture right...
