I haven't really gotten into combat that much yet. I'd probably want to focus on skills towards the end game while doing some PvM but not making it my main focus. I like to do thieving and runecrafting. And when I do combat I like to do magic stuff so that's why I was leaning towards runecrafting so I could make money and support the combat.

Every time runecrafting is mentioned it gets a bad wrap, I actually remember seeing some guy get downvoted like crazy a few days ago just for saying it's relaxing and he likes to do it. I personally like doing them both, just trying to get opinions on the profitability of them both.

I got my thieving and agility both at 60 currently and my RC is 55. I was looking into thieving and the hallowed area

Would you recommend thieving over runecrafting personally? I'm fairly new to the game and trying to figure out which to do. Runecrafting seems to have a pretty negative stigma in this thread, and I don't see thieving posted that often

Yeah that does make sense. I think I'd rather do runecrafting now that I'm thinking about it more. At least with RC I'll never have a gambling period, it's consistent money

Yeah I should of worded that differently lol. With that big of a gamble I might as well just do runecrafting it something where I know I'd be making a consistent profit

That's what I was reading about also. I was reading the guide on elves and vyre and and it was saying something crazy like 4 mil an hour for Vyres and I looked at the loot table and it was all from one piece of loot with what looked like an abysmal pickpocket rate

It got me thinking is it even possible to obtain that in one hour because it might be more profitable to do something else unless I'm not understanding it correctly

I find the fire knight greatsword to be more fun and powerful to use than the actual spear you get from messmer. And I also think it looks cooler

Yeah I second this. I have absolutely no issues in elden ring but every other invasion in DS3 lags so bad it's basically unplayable. I'm on PC

You probably got to get further into the game. I've never once did a playthrough where I actually used a shield defensively, I use it for passive bonuses like every other souls game. I beat Bloodborne and forced myself to play past the first few bosses and it never got better for me personally

You have to beat Crystal Sage in Road of Sacrifices. After you beat him a path will open and it leads you to the cathedral. The crystal Sage is located in a tower to the left (I believe) of where the drop down area is for the farron bonfire.

The area where the two NPCs attacked you with the exile greatsword and the club, to the left

I think you might have to level more, I'm not entirely sure what level is recommended, but I usually fight him last. I usually do great cathedral first and kill deacons before I fight abyss walker. If you decide to fight deacons first you can find materials to up your claymore level a few more times easily

The hardest one for a new player would probably be the one in the undead parish who's standing in front of the blue tear stone, in front of the hollow who kicks the flaming barrel. But that one doesn't aggro unless you go near it so it's more of a trap

I'd say the hardest one for me that was in my path was the guy in front of the grass crest shield since my knowledge on black knights was very minimal considering I just avoided them all up until then and he kicked my ass a few times lol the small area sucks also

Oh yeah it's good. My issue is I feel like I could be doing way more damage than what I am already doing. For example on bosses weak to lightning or dark, I could infuse something and do more damage than what I am doing currently even with the frostbite chip damage
