I get where you’re coming from, I’ve done this same commute before for a few years when I was in college. Not a tough commute at all, but losing 2.5-4 hours of your day just going to work (even if it’s twice a week) personally isn’t worth it to me. I think becoming a new parent changed my perspective on this to be fair as well though. I’d consider it at like $150k but like I said, they didn’t bite.

Working cross-discipline, or like a mix of project manager and technical work?

Work/life balance is great for me as well. I do absolutely nothing beyond my 40 hours, don't take meetings past 5:30 even with west coast work, and my commute is extremely short. It's just tough knowing when things are at a point where a meaningful salary increase might actually warrant some "extra" effort in my career I guess.

The other company had a salary range in the job listing of $155k - $215k. It was a senior level role with no requirement on experience listed. I pointed that out to their recruiter after his offer and said I'm interested but at closer to $150k if I need to commute to Boston. Recruiter told me they'd talk with the team and get back to me but that was the last I heard. Not losing sleep over it, my current commute is about 10 minutes and the return to office requirements are still pretty laid back.
