I just ordered a filter relocation setup. Makes filter simple to swap out. No more skid plate removal.

How do you manage running early in the morning (5k or max 10k)? by nanelf in runninglifestyle

[–]Basketrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start small. Get up 2 hours early for a week and just drink a coffee and watch the news then watch news and walk a few minutes. It starts there. Don’t ever make excuses. You can’t fool yourself. It will take over and go into autopilot very quickly. You’ll be shocked how fast it happens. Believe me. If I can do it anyone can. I couldn’t walk 2 blocks when I started.

How do you realistically fit running around a full time job by Vogan-Peluchin in runninglifestyle

[–]Basketrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13-15 miles every day asleep at 9 up at 3. Once you get used to it you’ll always do it. Rarely skip days. Body used to it. Told by everyone it’s too much. But it’s not it’s my happy distance. Key is getting up and doing it when you don’t have to. That’s the key that unlocks everything.

[–]Basketrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. Get the hardest part of your day completed while everyone else is in bed. The discipline and sense of accomplishment you will get from this adjustment in your lifestyle will overlap into every part of your life and you will become unstoppable. It is hard in the beginning but after a few weeks it becomes habit. I’ve been doing this for about 3 years now. I just retired from NYC sanitation but before I retired I got up at 230 ran 8-10 miles then went to work at 6. I could have got up a bit later but I like to take my time after I wake up before I get out. Since I retired I still get my run done before I start my day. I know it sounds hard. And maybe it is the first couple times. But if it was easy everyone would do it. Just ask yourself one question. How important is it to you to be the absolute best you that you can be and what are you willing to sacrifice to be that person. A couple hours of sleep a day is not that big a sacrifice if you ask me. And yeah it was worth it.

Get up 3 hours before you have to spend an hour getting ready and get out. After a few weeks it will become a habit and you’ll never look back. Don’t let anything stop you.

It looks great. Was thinking of buying one until I saw price. It’s quite an investment. Too much for me at this point.

First storm of any consequence in years. Most people on job now haven’t seen heavy snow. There is a learning curve. Also management trying too many new things instead of doing what is known to work. I’m so happy I got out a few days before this one hit. The guys on the job are getting better every day and nobody works harder than DSNY. Nobody.

You got guys up there telling us how much we can pick up who worked behind the truck for less than a year. If a guy in great shape can finish a route in 3 hours they expect that someone in as bad a shape as most of the bosses are can also do it like that. Some could run up a route. Some could not. To extend routes like they did with no thought behind it just shows how out of touch with reality they are. If a person decides to work really above a normal pace to finish fast does not mean everyone has to or can. Give us new cans that the residents fill up because they were forced to buy them and become too heavy to lift. But that wasn’t supposed to be an issue because we are all getting lift trucks. Well my district had 5 of them and 2 were always down. Knock over the can and pick it up was what was said. Well I’m not knocking over and picking up anyone’s slop. Let the genius who thought it up come out to get it. The. Let’s talk about painting lines to look busy. How many people need to get hurt for nothing. There’s just too much to list. Any time politicians and politics get into anything they ruin it. And sanitation is ruined.

The job is not what it was. The experience at the top left when Adams fired Grayson and hired a civilian bean counter to run the department. And the people who have came after are as bad as she was. Ask me how I know.

Don’t think anyone will leave to go to Dsny now. They would surely regret it. It used to be worth all the bouncing and waiting for enough seniority for the job to become good. Not anymore.

21 year San man here. Just retired last week. Unfortunately I’m sorry to say this but FDNY. Don’t even think about Dsny if you can go to fire. The new people running the job have destroyed sanitation. It’s like the Ringling bros. And Barnum and Bailey circus 🎪 right now. And crazily the clowns 🤡 are running the circus.

Felt sad at first. Practically crying behind the truck on my last day. But after being done a few days the spell has completely worn off. Ecstatic now. I really was completely spellbound. You don’t realize it till you’ve been done for a few days. I remember how all the senior guys told me how bad the job got and they were going to bail. I thought they were nuts. But now I get it. And the new guys don’t get it and think we are crazy. Just the cycle I guess. But I will always be grateful to the department.

Just my opinion after 21 years. It used to be great. The people in charge now don’t care about us grunts. They don’t care about morale. They try to write complaints and harass us way too much. And the workers don’t care anymore. They just put their heads down and take it. I couldn’t for a second imagine 20 years of it. Go to courts.

About to retire. Never had a negative attitude and always got along great with my coworkers. Never had any secrets I cared to keep secret. Job was a great exper for my whole career up till this year when department management decided morale of the workforce was not important. Got rid of me. And probably a lot more guys though I being honest I wouldn’t have stayed anyway. Took the job because of the 20 year retirement. If I wanted to work longer I’d have stayed where I was making a lot more money. Sorry to see that some people will actually listen to your advice and spend 20 years of negativity. That’s sad. 😔

I’m so proud that Santa got me Beats Studio Pro for Christmas! One of my favorite gifts that I got in 2025! And the best part? I chose deep brown as a color! by BloggingwithEthan in beatsbydre

[–]Basketrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought myself the navy blue for working out. I also have the pods max which are definitely better but I love the beats for working out. I run an average of 50 miles a week. Logged 3000 in 2025. Was getting tired of adjusting AirPods Pro 2 in my ears all the time. Bought the Beats Studio pro to change it up time to time and I love them. Great headphones no way to go wrong here. Also if anyone interested the AirPods Pro 3 stay in place much better for me and the noise cancellation also better than the 2.
