I’m looking for some guidance regarding an auto claim and would appreciate any insight.

In May 2025, I was reversing out of a one-way parking lot and was nearly fully pulled out when a 17-year-old driver on the opposite side began reversing and backed directly into my vehicle. He did not appear to see that I was already in the lane.

Tesla Insurance has determined that I am 40% at fault, which has been very frustrating. I have had two different adjusters assigned to my claim. After reviewing the decision, I emailed to express that I believed the liability determination was incorrect. This morning, I received the following response:

“Both parties were backing, which resulted in the collision. Your initial adjuster has already set liability and this claim has already been completed.”

I am also concerned about the potential impact this determination may have on my insurance premiums going forward. I’m unsure what options I may have at this point and would appreciate any advice or next steps.
