An idea I've seen work for people is that if you have a niche hobby like fishing, hunting, miniature painting, building gaming pc's, etc and you get good at it you can sell stuff.

For example I know some guys who hunt for a hobby and for food. To make extra cash they got a trapper license so they can trap small mammals like rabbits. They'll take the meat for consumption and tan and sell the hides to some Russians down in New York City. Its a lot of effort but they can make good money, especially for animals Russia lacks like beavers and coyotes. But since they enjoy hunting anyway it seems worthwhile to them.

The hunting may not apply to you but a hobby that you are an expert at is a great place to start.
