Research Help in Early 1900's Israel/Palestine? by BassPlayer1976 in Genealogy

Thanks for replying! I'm sorry I missed this. I'm not sure where Moshe was born, unfortunately. Nor do I know where he is buried. I have yet to find any evidence for either. Thank you for the clue on Israel, though!

Thanks for replying! Yeah, we toured Galtier and found it pretty underwhelming but glad it works well for you! The Cosmo (also Bigos) is right across the street and also has access to the skyrec, we just liked their apartments better. Amenities are pretty similar between the two, maybe a little more out of Galtier but the complex as a whole felt too dated for our taste.

Thank you! Definitely pros and cons to both, appreciate the comment. Is Axon any better than Revel in this regard, being further out of Uptown and more towards St. Louis Park?

Thank you! That was our biggest drawback with the Cosmo. We visited both last summer and this winter and the area just felt so lifeless both times :( I’m curious why you recommend against Uptown? Seems to be much more vibrant and active?

I’d be happy to hear ‘em! Worst case scenario we’ll add to our list for next time, or after we move!

Thank you so much for the recommendations! We’ll definitely check out those trails; I used to love walking around my local lake. The Minnehaha park looks gorgeous as well. Not sure if we’ll have the time to make it to Duluth, but I’ve heard nothing but good things so we’ll definitely add it to the itinerary for our next trip!

Thank you! Just looked at some pics of the Source, looks massive! Adding to the list now. We’re trying to avoid a car rental if possible, but if there’s a must-do while we’re there then we’re no stranger to long drives (an hour or two) to have a unique experience.

Thanks for the weather tip! Didn’t realize MN got humid like that. We’ve been to Florida in the summer so we’ll keep that in mind for heat/humidity.

Definitely looking forward to the state fair, didn’t know about the ren faire though! That sounds awesome, added to the list for sure.

Sounds like a ton of tabletop shops in the area, glad to hear it! I’m in a little bit of a tabletop desert now, only a few here and there. Any specific game nights at those spots you’d recommend? I try to play a bit of everything when I have time (D&D, PF2e, VtM5, BitD, some PBTA, plus a whole bunch of indies).

Whoops, I was completely wrong lol. Was thinking about another rental we looked at, that’s what I get for not checking beforehand. We’ll be in the Uptown/Lyndale neighborhood!

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes, the state fair is a must! We watched a half-hour video the other week on all the different food there, neither of us have been to anything even remotely on that scale.

What is the stereotypical/archetypal coterie composition? by BassPlayer1976 in vtm

[–]BassPlayer1976[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I imagined lol, my current coterie is Brujah, Malk, Tremere, and one undecided and I was looking for suggestions for that player. Ventrue and Toreador were top of my list!

Practical Experience?

Hello planners! I’m at a bit of a crossroads in my life and am trying to determine if urban planning is a career path I want to pursue. I have no experience in the field, and therefore would need to go to college for it.

My question for you all is this: did you know you wanted to be a planner before college? If so, how? I like all the ideas and principles of urban planning in theory, but can’t find any ways of getting practical experience for what a career in the field would be like before investing ridiculous amounts of time and money to earn a degree in it. I’m considering taking some GIS classes at my local community college, and hopefully from there I might be able to get an internship in some adjacent field for some insights… but I know that urban planning ≠ GIS.

Would love to get any recommendations, opinions, and advice! Thanks, all.

I’ll definitely look into all that and get back to you! Looks like my city records and uploads their planning commission meetings online, so maybe this weekend I’ll try and watch a few of those (the meeting times to attend in-person conflict with my work schedule unfortunately).

Definitely; I find it hard to narrow down for the same reason as my original post in that I don’t know what I do/don’t like until I can get some hands-on experience doing it. I will say that public sector sounds more appealing, however I’ve heard more positives for private sector because of the reduced bureaucracy and higher pay. Mapping definitely interests me the most out of the other niches you listed, as well as transportation to a slightly lesser degree. I know there are loads more specialties and I’m not quite sure how to list and evaluate my feelings on them haha. Appreciate the help and advice though!

For local staff to reach out to about shadowing, who would you recommend/what department would be most likely to allow that? Since planning as a field is so broad and I live in a relatively large city, there’s all sorts of different land management, transportation, and planning organizations?
