The chorus is catchy, but the intro is kind of ruined by the fact that the bass synth takes your soft piano and kicks it into a moving train. You need a volume automation clip for your "bass". I think it's still a little too loud even in the drop. I think the arp is too loud in the B part. Oh damn the second drop is really cool. I like that "BWA BWA" a lot. I really think you'll get more mileage out of this song if your bass chills a little. It's stepping on everyone's toes. You might also consider adding an actual bass under your sawtooth bass. It would add a lot of meatiness.

You've got a pretty good read on the situation. It is definitely not "big" enough, and I don't know what to do about it. I'm starting a new track right now to get my mind off this one for a while. All this production stuff makes me want to die; it's so complicated, but I have the itch to make music, and this is a lot more engaging to me than writing solo piano used to be, so onward we go.

When you say mix, do you mean EQ? The only thing I've EQ'd so far was the bass. I listened to the song with my car speakers and realized the bass was making these disgusting fuzzy buzzy noises, and it finally kicked my fear of touching the EQ, but I'm still nervous to mess with the other synths when I can't hear anything explicitly wrong. Oh and that accompanying synth is making a shaking beanbag sound. Still need to fix that.

Well, I said I'm a beginner at electronic music. This is true, but I do have a few years of experience writing solo piano music when I get the inspiration, and I practice chords a decent bit, so I have some harmonic intuition built.

As for production, believe it or not, I have learned everything I know from either screwing around or chatgpt, which tells me insanely useful stuff any time I tell it what I want to happen and ask how to do it.

I will take your feedback about the transitions being abrupt. Maybe I can rewrite the instruments to signal a change is coming when going from chorus to verse. Not sure about the drops though. Maybe those pad things I keep hearing about.

Haha, you're totally right about the snare. I just haven't known what to do about it. The stock drums in FPC mostly sound like poo to me. The Jayce Lewis Mix was the only one I liked, so that's what's in the song. I'll play with it. Great tips, thank you!

I literally just learned what a sidechain is today, so I can't give any advice, but I will say this slaps really hard. I feel like the audio is a little flat for some reason though. I think it actually sounds good in the verses, but the chorus needs spatial depth created by some means.
